Josiah Harper wrote his will on the sixteenth day of March 1768 in Frederick County Maryland. His wifes name was Rachel, his children were Josiah, Robert, Rachel, ? ( it looks like Lary or Sary) He had two sons and two daughters. The children were still young when there father died because he specified that the two sons choose a trade when they were of age. The executors on the Will were Thomas Hawkins and Robert Harper. The will was presented in court the 23rd day of June 1768. Josiah Harper bought his land in Frederick County Maryland from Joseph Craycraft August 21, 1761. The land is described as being near the mouth of the Shenendoah. In Robert Harpers (founder of Harpers Ferry) Will he mentions two nephews Josiah and Robert Harper. In my opinion Josiah Harper who died in 1768 was the brother of Robert Harper . In most information I have read about Robert Harper it doesn't mention a brother by the name of Josiah, I just mostly see info about John and Joseph. Can someone clear this up for me , was Josiah Harper who died in Frederick County Maryland in 1768 the brother of Robert Harper Founder of Harpers Ferry? Another interesting tidbit is that in the 1771&1772 Rent Rolls for Frederick County Maryland it lists Harper, Josiah heirs live in Virginia. Thanks for any help!!! Judy Woehrle [email protected]
