I have recently found out that my oldest known Harper ancestor was not born in Carroll or Harrison County Ohio as I once thought. I even found out the names of one of her uncles. It turns out that my great-great-great-great grandmother Mary E. Harper (married name Kail) was actually born in Washington DC. She appears to be a neice of Hugh Harper of Carroll County, OH who was born 1797 in Ireland and married Rebecca Love Semple of Washington DC. They were married in Ohio. Do any of these names ring a bell for anyone? Mary Harper wrote a song called "Ohio" that was published in the history of Carroll and Harrison Counties under her married name Mary Kail. Does anyone have any information on the Washington DC Harpers? My Mary E. Harper was born roughly 1828. How about the Harpers from Monohan, Ireland? Parents or siblings of Hugh Harper? Anything?
