    1. James Harper in Brooklyn, NY
    2. Amy Saulnier
    3. One of my ancestors is James Harper Bennet born 9/27/1820 in Brooklyn (NY) son of Winant Peter Bennet and Sarah Morrell. He was christenned and his parents were married in the Sands Street Methodist Episcopal Church in Brooklyn. I've been wondering where the name 'James Harper' came from and recently discovered that a James Harper and wife Rebecca was heavily involved in their church at the time. Apparently a James Harper (b. 1795) was mayor of New York City and cofounder of a prosperous publishing company. I think the latter James Harper was son of the former and Rebecca. The name James Harper also popped up as a witness to the will of Abraham Morrell of Newtown (Queens Co., NY) proved 11/29/1779. Does anyone on this list know of any other (less circumstantial) connection between the Harper and Morrell surnames?
