Hi Kevin, My Harpers were from Georgetown, DC. My grgrandfather was Grafton Harper b 1818 d 1887; m 1842 Elizabeth Foley. His father was Joseph Harper b 1790 d 1875. The children of Grafton/Elizabeth were: Catherine Ellen b 1865 Joseph Grafton b 1843 John William b 1845 Benjamin Franklin b 1847 Samuel A b 1850 Lucy Ann b 1852 Mary E. b 1854 Charles E. b 1857(d as infant) Charles E. b 1859 Clara b 1861 George Thomas b 1879 Birtha Virginia b 1879 (this may be a grandchild) Looks like your Mary was before this child, Mary. Wonder if she could be a sister to Grafton? I do not have the names of Grafton's brothers and sisters. Would sure like to find out more about this line. My Sources are from a Family Bible, WILLs, Oak Hill Cemetery and census. But that information brings the line forward, not back to the preceding ancestors.
