    1. HARPER & GREEN SLAVES
    2. Dear List(s) - The1850 Slave Census for Macon Co., AL shows the following slave-owning households. I would like to hear from anyone who has knowledge of these families or data pertaining to slaves they may have owned... wills, probate records, bills of sale, household inventories, etc. .... John A. Green - 32 H. Green - 14 William A. Green - 12 William Green - 9 Zara Green - 4 B. M. Green - 1 John O. Green - 1 Wesley Harper - 14 Francis Harper - 13 A. J. Harper - 9 Asberry Harper - 6 James Harper - 5 This Harper's above are descended from John Harerp (1) > John Jackson Harper (2), and John J. Harper, Jr., a line that migrated from Craven Co., SC to Wilkes Co., GA, then to Lee and Macon Cos., AL. Harper descendants are known to have resided and/or held property also in Auburn, Lee Co., AL. I am also looking to learn more about the origin of John A. Green (was he from SC, too? What county?), both Harpers and Greens being possible sources/origins for Angeline Green and Ishmael Harper, ex-slaves who married in Macon County in 1866. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Annette Researching: HARPER, GREEN, LANE; SPEED, TARVER, LENNARD/LEONARD (Nat. Amer.); KROUSE, BESTEDA, AUSTIN, PATRICK; MCLANE/MCLEAN...all found in AL counties.
