    3. While reviewing a newspaper for an obit today for the following: Tulsa Tribune- Wednesday March 11, 1930 Tulsans May Provide Funeral for Mother of Civil War Vet A Tulsa mother, 102 years old, who lived a life of service to her family and country, whose husband was a veteran of the war of 1812, the Seminole Indian war and the Mexican war and whose son was a veteran of the Civil war, will be buried in the potter's field if generous-hearted Tulsans fail to assist the family which has exhausted all its meager resources to care for her. The mother is Mrs. Hannah HARPER, 102, who died Sunday night at 7:10 at the Tulsa East Side Sanitarium, of pneumonia. The body is at the Gordon Barnes funeral home, pending funeral arrangements. A son, O. L. HARPER of 1208 E. Jasper St. said the would be grateful for assistance, though he did not ask for it. Mrs. HARPER was born in Raleigh county, North Carolina, Dec. 28, 1828. After the death of her first husband she married Douglas HARPER. He served in the war of 1812, the Indian wars, and the Mexican war but was too old for service in the Civil war. He died in 1900 at the age of 108 after he died she attempted to make a living for her second family, and came to Tulsa about 1912 and has been living with her children since. She is survived by two sons here O. L. HARPER of the Jasper street address and L. S. HARPER, living on Lansing Avenue. Six other children also survive. Tulsans who wish to help to provide a worthy funeral for this aged woman are asked to get in touch with Mrs. A. B. Ellis, superintendent of the Tulsa East Side Sanitarium, of the Gordon Barnes funeral home. Hope this is of value to someone. If so I have a copy of a followup article about the donations made for her funeral. Gayle Carson Tulsa, OK
