I have a JOHN (CALVIN) HARPER, b. 1809 in NC (according to census records) who married ELIZABETH CATHERINE CAMPBELL, in abt 1846 in TN??. Elizabeth was born abt. 1817 in NC as were her parents (according to 1880 census). John died suspect - 1864 or sometime during the Civil War. It is said that he was a member of CSA. Elizabeth d. 1887 or abt. in Hardin Co. KY, where she moved to be with her eldest son, also named John Calvin "Cal" Harper. John and Elizabeth had five children: 1) John Calvin "Cal" b. 1847 in TN, 2) Elijah b. April 1850 in TN(my line), 3) Thomas "Tom" b. 1852 in TN, 4) Sarah "Sally" b. 1854 in TN, 5) Alvin Harper b. 1858 TN (I believe he died young as he is never listed with the other siblings. Most of my information comes from an oral history (put to pen) from a daughter-in-law of my Elijah Harper. I am at a brick wall right now as to proof, other than verifying information through the census and an affidavit of descent in KY. Would like to share what I have on these surnames. Any help is appreciated. Thank You.
