It is said "that he joined the fight as CSA, was taken prisoner by the Federals and was never heard of again". Oral family history. he is not seen on any subsequent censuses with the family. Suspect this is true. John married: ELIZABETH CATHERIN CAMPBELL b, abt 1809-1817 in NC. (age varies with census records) d. abt. 1887 in Hardin Co.KY. (Note: 1880 census records states both her parents born in NC) Children: 1, JOHN CALVIN HARPER b. 1847, TN d.unknown. KY. ?? Married: MARY BROWN. (who had a daughter prior to marriage by man named Simmons. Daughter's name was ANNIE B. SIMMONS, who later married DANIEL BURNETT ) Children: Devina (b. 1872 KY), & Elizabeth (b. 1874 KY) 2. ELIJAH HARPER - b. April 1850 in TN (my line) d. Dec. 3, 1923 in Hardin Co. KY. Married: # 1) 1874 in Mead Co. KY. EMMA D. COFFMAN b.1874 in Mead Co. KY d. March 1888.
