I just received the death certificate for, I think, my husband's great grandfather. It states James W Harper was born 15 May 1849 in Tennessee. The death certificate, dated 11 November 1923 is from Mansfield, Arkansas. What I find interesting, and maybe exciting if this is indeed the James W Harper I've been searching for, is both parents are listed. They are Blaney Harper and Elizabeth Griffin. The birthplace for James W Harper is listed as Tennessee. (I ran across some similar information in regard to birthplace when searching Census reports. Also, a George Harper is listed as the informant. James W Harper had a son, George...) I am curious if anyone out there researching the Harper surname recognizes the given name of Blaney.
