OK... Sue asked "But why all those Harper-L(D)'s..." It's because EVERY time you send a message (reply and new) the Rootsweb server ADDS another prepend item to the front of the Subject line. Unfortunately, there's no way for their server to 'see' there's already a Harper-L(D) so it just adds another and another and another... Modern technology is great MOST of the time but there are those times when it's really a pain in the backside! If you are subscribed in "List" mode, you see every single message as soon as it is received and then clears the Rootsweb servers and is sent out into cyber space. (And clears YOUR server... Are you related to the Harper's from Virginia. If so, I have some information, although I'm certain it's not as complete as some.
Those are the White's and Harper's I'm related to.
None that I know of so far, however, I only began my research in December adn although I have quite a bit of info - I have lots left to do. Most of the Harpers I'm related to were from Carroll Co., GA, Butts Co., GA and Elbert Co., GA. The White's I'm related to were from Virginia (Harper's were originally). My records deal with the Harpers in Albemarle Co. VA and Elbert Co. GA & Abbeville SC. The Whites are from Albemarle to Elbert Co. and the records I compiled were for the White there.
W- for wills and I for inventory. If a person died testate he should have both. Sometimes inventories in more than one county. If he died intestate [without a will] the court usually sent 3 of his neighbors to inventory his property. Margaret Amundson
