All List Administrators are being asked to post the following message from Rootsweb. So I'm doing this now.. As you know I've been pretty tolerant of things 'not' strictly related to Researching the Harper surname... I'd like to maintain that policy but DO believe these lists are NOT the forum for personal politics. So regardless of what's in the future for our world, PLEASE do not post anything with a political nature. I will be forced to remove you from the list... I thank you for your cooperation and wish you all well in your personal endeavors and your genealogical research! Jeannette Harper Email: budlink@surewest.net List Administrator (Harper L- List and D- Digest) --------------------------------------- And NOW a message from our sponsors... NO POLITICS. JUST GENEALOGY. That's now Rootsweb's rule as well as the long time rule of most lists. Here's the official statement from Rootsweb: "It is a period of intense political times when emotions and opinions will run high in many directions." "The simple issue is that RootsWeb is for genealogical research and not for political discussions. Equivalent political situations have been known to cause significant disturbances and needed intervention by admins and occasionally by staff. RootsWeb asks all admins to reinforce where necessary to their subscribers the basis of the mailing lists and their provision by RootsWeb to users, and, where necessary, take reasonable actions to maintain the focus of mailing lists. Please be firm but nice. Good luck, we will all need it." "RootsWeb cannot and will not be supportive of list administrators who encourage political discussions on mailing lists."

Well you could have some of them sign up for the Harper Surname DNA project. Then you could compare the haplotypes with those of Scots-Irish and Native American. Go to www.FamilyTreeDNA.com and click on Surname projects, H and Harper. All the best. -----Original Message----- From: Bill [mailto:wnoliver@worldnet.att.net] Sent: Monday, March 17, 2003 2:12 PM To: HARPER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [HARPER-L (D)] Re: [HARPER-L (D)] : HARPER------- CREE Native American Dear Brenda, I've distant cousins who have written me that our HARPERs "knocked the red hair out of us Irishmen for three generations", but I have no proof. My HARPERs were in Johnson county, Illinois by 1832 and the came from Tennessee. I am looking that they came from Smith County, Tennessee, but that hasn't been proven yet either. What are the circumstances and other data that your friend has that can give either of us clues?? Bill Oliver -=- ishta23@netzero.net wrote: > Hi, Would anyone have Harpers that are Native American ?
