    3. Hi listmates! I'm new to this list and don't know if a whole lot isn't being posted right now, or if I'm missing posts. But, I thought I would post what I have and hope that someone else is researching the same family and has more information. My grandfather, Thomas HARPER, left Wales, date unknown, but after a "row" with his father, which, I have learned from newly discovered relatives in Wales, is still talked about! At least I now know where my father's temper, and, (ahem..) mine comes from. I traced his birth to Monmouthshire, Wales through the FHC records, and discovered there were 16 children born to my great grandparents. As far as I can tell, only two of them left Wales--Thomas and Godfrey. I have been able to trace Godfrey's family to British Columbia, Canada, and now have lots of information on his descendants. So, here we go: Thomas HARPUR. m Elisabeth (last name unknown) Children of Thomas HARPUR and Elisabeth are: i. Samuel HARPER. ii. Thomas HARPER, b. 1779, bap. January 1, 1780, Rushbury, Herefordshire iii. Sam HARPER, d. March 1782; bap. February 3, 1782, Rushbury; buried March 30, 1782 "Sam Harper" Parish of Rushbury (spelling of name in church record is different from parents!). Generation No. 2 Samuel HARPER, m. Elizabeth. Child of Samuel HARPER and Elizabeth is: i. Thomas HARPER, b. December 14, 1831, Llangarron, Ross, Hereford, Wales; d. March 31, 1898, Tristwan, Llangibby; Buried in Llangibby Churchyard. Generation No. 3 Thomas HARPER, b. December 14, 1831 in Llangarron, Ross, Hereford, Wales, and died March 31, 1898 in Tristwan, Llangibby; Buried in Llangibby Churchyard. He married Elizabeth MORGAN November 23, 1862 in St. Paul's Church, Newport, Monmouth, Wales, daughter of George MORGAN and Elizabeth MORGAN. (1881 Census Index for Monmouthshire County, Wales, for Thomas Harper, shows him as a farmer, age 48; wife Elizabeth, age 38, and with the following children: Matilda (18), Mary Jane (14), Agnes Elizabeth (12), Thomas (10), Morgan William (8), Louisa Ann (6) , and Samuel George (2).) The death certificate for Thomas Harper lists the cause of death as pneumonia; and the person who provided the information was F. Price, son-in-law (Francis F. Price, husband of Mary Jane). He is buried in St. Cybi. Llangibby Churchyard. Thomas Harper and Elizabeth Morgan were married in the Parish church, St. Paul, Newport, in the County of Monmouth on November 23, 1862. The witnesses were Joseph Jenkins and Matilda Morgan. Children of Thomas HARPER and Elizabeth MORGAN are: i. Matilda HARPER, b. 1863; m. Bill PRICE. 3. I'm new to this list and would like to give you the Harper names I'm working on. James A. Harper was born in 1837 in Ross Co., Ohio, and (according to his pension application after the Civil War) was a son of Peter Harper. James was married in 1859 in Fulton Co., Illinois, to Mary Ellen Ball. It seems they moved to Harrison Co., Missouri, in the 1870's and perhaps back to Fulton Co. for a while came back to Missouri. James died in harrison Co. in 1916. The only info I have on James' siblings are the names John and Tom as possible brothers. Could sure use some help on James' parents and siblings. Will be glad to share what I have on James' descendants. Mary Hart

    2. Michael & Linda Coe
    3. Ken, I have a John T. HARPER, very possibly born in Macon, GA, in my family tree. All the information I have on him is from one of my father's cousins. This cousin does not subscribe to the HARPER mailing list so I have privately forwarded your request to him in hopes of a connection. The John T. HARPER I have in my family tree: parents Elijah David (1950-1950) and Frances (BRYANT) (abt 1853-1922?) HARPER. They had eight (?) children: Lola, John T., Leonard, Sarah, Margaret, William Washington (my great grandfather), Leonard A. and Alathea. ALL I know of John T. HARPER: born in 1876, was married (?) (wife's name unknown) and had two children: Walter (who married a Josie) and Adelle (who died 13 April 1910). I know more on my gg-grandparents, Elijah David HARPER, his wife, his other children and their children thorugh current times. Let me know if you would like more information on the rest of the family to determine if there is a connection. 3. > I noticed that posting regarding Thomas Harper, Jr. in Rowan Co., NC. I >would love to know about the Harpers that lived in NC. I have a James HARPER b 6 May 1762 Halifax Co., Va m Agnis BURCHFIELD 1764/66 Halifax Co., Va with his father as James HARPER. I'm thinking perhaps they moved to Rowan Co., NC and then on up to Russell Co., Va (that the corner of Va, Ky and WV) because I'm finding that was a trail of other's moving into that area at that time. Surnames from other lines were STEVENS and HAMON's of my descendancy. Any help, ideas or suggestions to help connect these Harpers, sure would appreciate. Iris
