    3. I am looking for Susan Jane Harper Davis. She was born Susan Jane Harper, on 13 May 1846, possibly in Ohio. She married Thomas J. Davis on 19 November 1868. they had about six children. Susan lived her childhood possibly in Ohio. She married in Champaign County, Illinois. She moved to Wood County, OH in the late 1800's, and died there in 1929. She was buried in Champaign County, IL at Mt. Hope Cemetery. She died in Wood County, Ohio. Seems every time I pull a vital record on Susan, no one knew who her parents were, and it's been a real chalenge to find out who that might be. If you think you can help, I wil be more than grateful for your assistance. Thanks! Lori

    3. Craig - This is fantastic! Now we can REALLY share! I hope everyone will contribute in any way they can. Could I make a suggestion? Would it be possible to create one webpage with all these links off of it? I'll never be able to keep up with all these different URLs. It's been a while since I posted. Is anyone researching William Mark Harper b ca 1742/43, lived 1780's Culpeper Co, VA, d 1833 Adams Co, OH; Summers Harper b ca 1780 VA, d aft 1850 Sumner Co, TN; Zacheus Harper b 1785 VA, lived Adams Co, OH, Macoupin Co, IL, Greene Co, IL, d 1857 Polk Co, MO; Nancy Ann Harper b 1782 VA/MD, m William Marsh 1806 Adams Co, OH, d 1850 Adams Co, OH; Anna Harper m 1811 Barnett King in Adams Co, OH; George Harper b ca 1762, d 1825 Adams Co, OH; Rev William Mark Harper b ca 1771 MD, m 1793 Culpeper Co, VA Anna Putman, lived KY, OH, Schuyler Co, IL, d 1859 Brown Co, IL. The earliest William Mark Harper b ca 1742/43 may have lived in Frederick Co, VA shortly after leaving Culpeper Co, VA in 1789. It appears that he also might have lived somewhere in MD in the early 1770's. He left no will - no estate papers - nothing to prove his children, but the others are linked as probable children by a tremendous amount of circumstantial evidence. However, there may be some siblings we have not discovered. Would be interested in sharing findings with anyone researching Harpers in any of the localities mentioned. Cookie

    3. Hello. I am new to this list so thought I would post a query. I am researching my husband's great great great grandparents. Anna HARPER married Archibald CONLEY around 1820. They had at least 10 children. Anna was rumored to be one-half Cherokee Indian. They lived in Hickman County, TN. in the early 1820's. They moved to Illinois around 1845. They lived in Jefferson County and Jersey County, IL. Anna presumably died by 1870. We don't know where she died and is buried. I know this sketchy information but it is all I have. Thanks for reading this and for any ideas as to how to proceed. Janis Foley

    3. "Hello again Cousins!" Rootsweb and GenConnect have afforded us the opportunity for creating Surname Boards for some of the families most dearest to us! HARPER being one of mine <G>, I have just activated seven HARPER Surname Boards for our HARPER families! These seven new GenConnect Boards are as follows: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Harper http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/HarperBibl http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/HarperBios http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/HarperDeed http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/HarperObits http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/HarperPens http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/HarperWill Be forewarned, these are brand spanking new, so it very well may be some time before these boards rise to be of the benefit that I hope they one day might become to HARPER Family Researchers. Please do feel welcome to visit any one or more of these HARPER Family Surname Boards and share any information that you might wish, today, tomorrow, whenever! Please do remember to always post as much information as you might to enhance your opportunities for making a connection with other researchers researching the same families as you may be doing! Try to always include names, dates, and locations, or at least your best "guesstimate" for any missing information, but do clearly label such as "possibly", "perhaps", "speculating", etc. Your surnames entered in the Surname Column are the only ones that will be indexed for Internet wide searches, so be sure to include every surname occurring in your message body that pertains to your family research in the Surname Column above the message body. =================================== http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Harper is for posting HARPER Family queries. =================================== http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/HarperBibl is for posting HARPER Family Bible Records should you have any that you might wish to share. ================================== http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/HarperBios is for posting HARPER Family Biographies or Biographical material that you might wish to share, but please note: No Copyrighted materials should be posted here unless you have obtained written permission from the copyright holder. ================================== http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/HarperDeed is for posting HARPER Family deeds that are of genealogical value for HARPER Family research. ================================== http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/HarperObits is for posting HARPER Family obituaries that you might care to share, but take heed as any since the year 1929 may be under copyright by the publication in which one might appear. ================================== http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/HarperPens is for posting military, railroad, or other pension papers that might be of benefit to HARPER Family researchers. ================================== http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/HarperWill is for posting HARPER Family Wills that might be of benefit to HARPER Family researchers. ================================== Please note that all new posts to the above boards are routed to me, and should an erroneous post be made accidentally by anyone, it should be no longer than a few hours from the time that one might be erroneously made before I might have an opportunity to delete same. 2. Patterson Family
    3. A SPAM is junk mail of the electronic variety. Someone who's selling something gets ahold of a large mailing list, one whose recipients may or may not be interested in the product being sold, and blast it out there. It's a terrible waste of resources (computer space, personal time, etc) for everyone involved. But those that perpetrate must gain something from it, because it's very common... 1. Thanks...Spam and Other Stuff
    2. Two things: First, thanks to all of those who answered my question about "spam". Second, in an earlier message, I mentioned that I have volunteered to transcribe census data to be posted on-line at a later time. This gave rise to several personal replys, with questions that I am not fully able to answer. To clarify... o I am relatively new at this... I don't have a web site or anything... and I've never done this work before. I happened to "volunteer" by contacting the individual who has transcribed and posted a number of census records (several states) of slave/"colored" census. I have particular interest in Macon Co., AL and there are few records available on-line for the county, so I thought I would try and get something started. There is a web site for this data: <A HREF="http://www.prairiebluff.com/aacensus/">African-American Census Schedules Online</A> o I do not know the process for converting the transcribed material. The data, I believe, were obtained from the state archives, copied from microfilm, probably for a fee. As a volunteer, I am merely typing up the photocopies in a straight wordprocessing program. I will then forward the data to my contact, who will do the actual conversion for the on-line posting. o For those of you interested in volunteering for transcription work, I recommend that you start with US GenWeb, which invites volunteers to do census and other transcriptions. Instrucations are provided at their web site: <A HREF="http://www.usgenweb.org/projects/projects.html">The USGenWeb Project - Special Projects</A> ...or contact the individual state coordinator through GenWeb, who may be able to provide you with a specific individual to work with, if you've got your hands on a particular census record. o There are various other web sites, where individuals or organizations have tried to make census data more widely available...some are more complete than others. Here are a couple. You can try contacting the home page/site manager to see if they are interested in your assistance. <A HREF="http://www.colorado.edu/libraries/govpubs/debbie/cover.htm">Census Schedules</A> <A HREF="http://www.prairiebluff.com/aacensus/">African-American Census Schedules Online</A> Good luck and thanks for your participation. 3. I've been trying to find some genealogy information on my Harper line .. but haven't had much luck. My grandparents are still living, but they can only give me vague information back to my great-great-grandfather. I'm hoping someone can provide some tiny fragment that will allow me to get past my brick wall. My grandfather's name is Clayton Richard Harper (married to Esther Kathryn Fuller). He was born in Stonewall, Oklahoma on Sep 24, 1911. He has five brothers and one sister (Clarice - born about 1903, Joseph Henyard - born Mar 7, 1905, Minnie Lula born Mar 8, 1907, Morris K. - born Dec 27, 1916, William Macon born Nov 22, 1920, and Franklin Forrest - born Apr 14, 1923). Frank is the only living sibling. My great-grandfather's name was John Frank Harper. He was born in Blooming Grove, TX on July 16, 1877 and died Mar 20, 1936 in Stonewall, Oklahoma. He was married to Minnie Bell Shumard. My great-great-grandfather's name was Joseph Harper. He was born abt 1858 -- but I don't have much information besides that. I know that he married Nancy Fredrick and had 8 children (John Frank, Lula, Carrie, Ada, Martha Ollie, Thomas, Lottie and LeElla). Any help greatly appreciated. Wesley Harper
