Hi Carolyn, Some wonderful information about the HARPERs in the deep South from Jean Maurer. I keep waiting to hear something about the HARPERs of Georgetown, District of Columbia. My grgrandfather, Grafton HARPER m Elizabeth FOLEY in 1842. Grafton was born 1818 in Georgetown as was his father, Joseph b a 1789. So far, after several years, I have connected with two cousins from this line and we are busily trying to research all the churches, cemeteries, census, etc. in DC. There must be more of us out there. Look forward to hearing from descendants of the Georgetown HARPERs. Ann Steele Skidmore Virginia

Dear Harper Researchers; I am looking for information on Ann Harper who married David Bebbington sometime in the early/mid 1800s England. They had a son John W. (William?) Bebbington who moved to Newton, Mass. where he married 31 October 1872 his childhood sweetheart Sarah Bowtle who was also from England. Ann Harper and her husband David Bebbington could have lived in Cheshire or Braintree England. I'm sorry that I have such little information to give but hope it is enough for someone out there to identify my Ann Harper. Anything is appreciated. Thank you for your help. John

Harper Migration Patterns (Fascinating Topic): 1. Deed Book 19, Halifax Co,NC,1802-1807: "Jelt" Harper of Green Co., GA, son of Anne Downs & Issac Harper, sold land land inherited from his father to brother, Tyrell in Halifax County, NC. 2. One Harper Researcher, Bonnie J. Sell, has done quite a bit on Harpers as they moved from VA-KY-IN-IL-IA-TX. She noted that as they moved from VA to TX, members of the family stopped off , or went in different directions. 3. For the Raph Harper line, see Joe Payne's homepage. 4. One of the "SC" Harpers alerted me to the "German Harpers", formerly Herber. They are in Pendleton Co.,WVA and are discussed in Marsha L. Fuller's book, THE HARPER FAMILY HISTORY, 1713-1995. Charlotte Gibson (AZ)has also researched this family. 5.Joseph Doyle Harper has his line from Lenoir Co, NC to Pulaski, KY-IN-OH. I have been compiling info on all Harpers I could find hoping to make connections. Not easy! Most Harpers who even bother to study the line seem to get locked-into one line. I have been careful to document my data hoping to make connections. Hopefully, more Harpers will begin publishing their data so we can share. I have been developing a bibliography of Harper publications. One interesting 'Chart" in the VA ARchives was "The Happer Family" from Norfolk. My next venture will be to check out that info. I think it is a spelling error. (Anybody else see that?)
