    1. Re: HARPERs GA>AL>AR
    2. Charmaine - Don't give up on this lot of AL Harpers. SOMEBODY out there is working on them. I have seen these names among my Harper notes, although I do not believe they connect to my line; and, I never learned how they were related (siblings?). I know from my notes that we have communicated before, but I don't know if I shared this info. I recorded while in Montgomery, AL, visiting the archives: Greene Co., AL Marriages, 1823-1860 Source: AL Dept. of History and Archives Harper, Benj. A., to Mary A. Hardin 1 Dec 1854 Harper, Henry, to Eliz. Shackelford 25 Apr 1842 Harper, John E., to Mary A. Collins 12 Jul 1854 Harper, Sarah, to Wm. R. Archer 07 Jan 1825 Harper, Thomas P., to Mary Shipman 10 May 1838 Harper, William E., to Ardella Shackleford 30 Dec 1846 Harper, Wyatt, to Sophia H. Bates 21 Dec. 1825 Harper, Wyatt, to Mary Jane Smith 25 Jun 1842 Hope this helps someone. Annette Researching: HARPER, GREEN(E), LANE; SPEED, TARVER, LENNARD/LEONARD (Nat. Amer.); KROUSE, BESTEDA, AUSTIN, PATRICK; MCLANE/MCLEAN...all found in AL counties.

    1. Harper family in Gloucestershire
    2. TH
    3. I am researching the harper family in Gloucestershire. I have managed to get back to Thomas ( 1838-1915 ) who married Thirza ( 1842-1929 ). They lived around Saul, near Stroud and had some children, including my grandfather, William ( 1874-1944). He moved up to Chorley with his brother percy and each married one of two Edge sisters. William married Nelly. They had my father, George ( 1905-1948) who married Edna Robinson. If anyone can help me go back further or who might be related to me, I'd really like to hear from them.....Tim Harper

    1. Re: HARPER-Abstraacts of Virginia Land Patents and Grants
    2. .... and, do ya'll know, there is a "John Harper" listed on the "Second Virginia Charter" entitled to the "first collonie" by King James of England? Check-out the full text of the charter at this site: http://www.virginiagenealogy.com/page102.html The third charter, in 1612, shows a "Richard Harper". I didn't record the URL, but there is probably a link from the site above. ...an interesting footnote to this material I thought you would enjoy. 1. HARP-HARPER Connection:Re: HARPER-D Digest V99 #47
    2. Nancy Harper Vick
    3. MESSAGE TO HARPS: In one researcher's notes, I found a connection that established a connection: Willm Harp, Sr. of Rappahannock Co., VA to son John Harper-establishing son Willm,Jr. & John Harper. References for this were given as: WKS Bk 10:p.21-25,Lancaster Co.VA; REcord Book 2,1654-1666, Records Deed of Gift 22, Jan. 1655. I have not verified this reference, but it should be easy to find in Lancaster Co. Credit given to Ken Schwarzburg who had traced the family to early Yorkshire, England. Hope this helps somebody! Please let me know as this family line is continued to Halifax Co., NC and GA. 3. Samson Harp was born in 1810. I have always had him listed as born in Jasper, Newton County, Arkansas but recently I've found him listed as born in Tennessee. I don't have a birthdate for Rebekah. 2. Dick, Maybe we could get rootsweb to separate Harps and Harpers? Anyway, I have a few Harps from Kentucky who moved to Indiana and Illinois. I also have a number of Maggies. Also, the name Bates appears offen in my lines. Do you think it's possible that Maggie's parents were James Edward Harp and Ellen Malloy (b. d. in Paduca Kentucky). James Edward Harp's parents were Burgess Harp, Sr. and Georgette Martin. James is said to have disappeared one day. Some say he died in a logging accident, others say he just left and married elsewhere. Anyway, I have a daughter Maggie born to that James Edward and Ella Malloy. I don't have any more information on Maggie except that she had three siblings: Finis, Marion and Dora. Other Maggies (Margarets) Harps I have include: Margaret m. ? Turner, p. John William and Mary May Davis; Margaret b. Jan 28, 1873 m. William Bennett, p. John Burgess, Jr. and Eliza Jane Malloy; Margaret b. March 24 1853; p. Burgess Harp and Georgette Martin. If you think we have any connection, please let me know. 1. Harper family of Pendleton Dist., SC > 1790 & 1800
    2. E. Ray Hill
    3. Good to see all the activity on the Harper List. I am researching the Harper family found in Pendleton Dist., SC in 1790 and 1800. There was a Bannister harper and childen Abrilear, Robert, John and William. Perhaps this William Harper is the one that lived near Jonas Hill in 1790, so I am wondering if anyone has come across a Harper - Hill connection of any kind in their research of the Harper family. Please contact me if you have any Hills hanging around in your family tree. Thanks so much. Ray Hill [email protected]
