Reply to Jane Evans about Robert Harper .... I'm seeking the names of the parents and siblings of Mathew Harper, born 14 Aug 1837, in Richland Co., OH, and married Anna Marie Little, born 3 June 1847, in Licking Co., OH. They tied the knot in Marietta, IL, 28 March 1872. I noticed some of your Harpers were named Matthew. You think there's any connection? According to my mother he hated Indians because he was a Cherokee Indian, I have no definite proof of this, though. His parents were J. William HARPER and Oralea FRANKLIN. Hello. I am researching HARPER and trying to tie the name in with the Cherokee. Has anyone ever heard of a HARPER who was a trader/trapper and was involved with the Cherokee Indians ? The time period I am looking at was around 1800. There is a possibility this HARPER was white or part Cherokee. Thanks for your time. Janis Foley [email protected] P.S. Has anyone ever seen a HARPER-DOWNING connection ??
