I am looking for information on Edward Harper who married Frances Bibb, and his parents Henry Harper and Judith Landrum. Who were Henry's parents? I've read that he was the grandson of Castleton Harper. I would appreciate any information. Beverly Adams __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? There was a Henry Harper and a Casleton Harper who were brothers. Henry went to Amhurst County, Virginia. Casleton remained in Albemarle County. He had a son Henry who married Martha Gaines and went to Elbert Co. GA and then to Abbleville District S. C.. The Henry who married Judith Landrum was the brother of Casleton not the son. When you analyse all of the Harper data it appears that the harper brothers both patented land in what became Albemalre County [Goochland in the patent but located in present day Albemarle. Castleton Harper, 254 acs. Goochland Co. on the upper side of Epps's Cr., at the Mouth of Beaverdam Sw., adj. James Lee & Epps; 1 Mar 1743/44. p. 33. 1.S5. p. 332 Castleton Harper, 324 acs. Albemarle Co. on both sides the North Fork of Hardware Riv., on a Ridge & the Brow of a Hill; adj. His old Lines & Thomas Sowel: 12 May 1759, p. 215. 1.S15. The two Henry Harper's are often confused as are the various Casletons.

TOMBSTONES IN DELAWARE CO.OHIO: Gussie HARPER- March 6, 1849--old graveyard Josiah HARPER-Sept. 21, 1855--Lake Ridge Cem. I would really hate it if someone gave me information on PHILIP HARPER b. 1816 in KY (I think). What would I have to do if I found out more about his past than that he married a woman called MENILA TUTTLE in Pike Co., IL in 1850? Nothing is known of her past either. Life would be very boring if I could not speculate as to where they came from, and who their parents were, and how they happened to be who and where they were. I can think of all kinds of interesting stories. Don't ruin my dreams by giving me specific information. Not that I expected anyone to, anyway!

ELLIS ISLAND EXPERT GENEALOGY Editor: Jeannette Holland Austin Series: Immigration Subject: Ellis Island Date: August 21, 1999 One of the reasons you might be having trouble locating passenger lists, ship manifests and other immigration records is because immigration laws were not passed in the US until 1819. Even then, they only required the maintenance of limited immigration records. It wasn't until 1882 that all immigration regulations were made uniform. >From approximately 1900 to 1914, 5,000 persons or more were processed through Ellis Island. However, as early as 1855, Castle Garden was an Immigrant Receiving Station. Actually Castle Garden was an old fort which was located on the lower southern tip of Manhattan, operating under the auspices of the state. Clerks recorded names, nationalities and designations of immigrants, thus enabling US Government to keep track of immigrants. In 1882 (when the new law was passed), Castle Garden continued to operate under a contract with the US Government, however, by 1890, due to demand, the facilities had to be expanded. So it was that 27 acres (Ellis Island) was chosen as the new site for a US Immigration Station. The Ellis Island site (Ellis Island.org) offers a museum, publications, as well as other interesting facts about it. You can search the American Immigrant Wall of Honor at http://www.ellisisland.org/. This is a search engine. Just click on Wall of Honor on the homepage of Ellis Island.org. Also, should you have an immigrant to add, it needs to be done before Labor Day. The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc. Is developing an exciting new family genealogy facility which is to be housed in the Ellis Island Immigration Museum. The American Family Immigration History Center will use state-of-the-art interactive computer technology to bring the immigration records on ancestors who came to this country as long as a century ago to one's fingertips. Here is where you can do research on your Ellis Island immigrants.
I am looking for information on Thomas W. Harper b. about 1823 maybe in Tenn. He moved to Fayette County Texas sometime before 1850. He married Lucinda Jane (Cook). He was her third husband. She was a McCollum and then Sellers. He left Fayette county about 1874 . Dont know what happen to him . One story is he went to Brownwood Texas and remarried and then died there. Another story is he was to Ark. I would like to find out who his parents were and what happened to him after he left Fayette County. I beleive he may have been related in some way to Josiah Harper b. about 1795 a Baptist Clergyman from Tenn. who also went to Fayette County Texas. I dont think Josiah was Thomas' father because Thomas was an executor of Josiah's Will but he was not mentioned in the Will that I know of. tks [email protected]
