Our family of Harper's lived in Caldwell Co. Ky. and prior to that Virginia. I am still searching the Va. and have not had any luck . We have had William's, Franklin's as past ancestor names. I wish I could be of help. Sorry. For awhile now I have been trying to find information on the Harper side of my family and I have been given a couple source of information but have been unable to find out which is correct and I really need help. My grandmother name was Mattie Florence Harper born in Gradyville Adair Ky. and her father name was Alfred Harper and her mother name was Mary Sexton. My grandfather as I have been told was married twice . My grandmother had a brother name Mont Harper and they had half brothers and sisters. The names of these individuals are Mary Lena Harper, Dewey Harper, Teddy Harper, Brigham Harper, Alma Harper, Alice Harper, Ella Harper and Fradis Harper. I know some of these names are nicknames from what my mother had told me. Also there is a question about my grandfather first name that it might had been Stephen. My mother did tell me that one of her uncles had been married and divorce from a woman who was from Hawaii and that her Haper family also came from Virginia and West Virginia. If anyone could please help me it will be of great help. Thank You. Linda [email protected]

I am looking for information about my ancestor Susan HARPER. She was born in Orange County, North Carolina on 16 Mar 1769. She married James BARNHILL (BARNWELL) there in 1788. She died there in the late 1850s.
Are the families below connected to William HARPER (1820-1902) of Piatt Co? Possibly his brothers? William named one of his sons Barney. William HARPER is believed to have come to Piatt Co. from Franklin Co., OH. His father, Clayton HARPER is shown in the 1830 and 1840 census in Franklin Co. Clayton HARPER came to Piatt Co. around 1850, where he died 6 Sep 1851. He is buried in Ingram cemetery. Where did these two families go after the 1850 census? Do they appear in any additional Piatt Co. census records? 1850 Census, Piatt Co., IL: West side Sangamon River, Dist. 35, p. 2 Barney Harper 43, farmer, OH Elizabeth 41, OH Mary A. 21, OH Nancy J. 19, OH Betsy A. 16, OH Adam, 14, OH Amanda, 12, OH Pheoby, 11, OH Sarah, 4, OH Caroline, 2, OH Thomas E. Still looking for any leads on William Harper ( 1802-1846 ) from Arlingham who married Eliza ( possibly Sparrow, but she'd have only been 12 at the time so unlikely 1814-1866 ). Descendants were Thomas Harper from Saul ( 1838-1915 ) and William Harper ( 1874-1944 ). Thomas married Thirza Phillips ( 1842-1929 ). Thankyou.....Tim Harper
