Can anyone place Ray Harkey for me? Seems I do not have him or his siblings. http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ar/lonoke/obituaries/obit11-98.txt ENGLAND - Ray Harkey, a retired farmer, age 89 years, of England passed away Saturday, Oct 31, 1998. Mr. Harkey was a member of the Lions Club. He was preceded in death by sisters, Gladys and Jean, and by brothers, Glenn and Roy. Mr. Harkey is survived by his wife of 60 years, Vada Jane George Harkey; sister Margie Burkhead of Dallas; daughters, Rose Carolyn Lipscomb of England, and Mary Margaret Dawson of Little Rock; grandchildren, Dr. John Lipscomb of Ohio, Margaret Lipscomb Page of California, and John Stephen Dawson of Tennessee; five great-grandchildren; and many friends. Mr. Harkey was born Oct. 19, 1909, on Crow Mountain near Russellville in Pope County, and his family moved to Tomberlin in 1918 to till the more fertile bottom lands. He spent his life coaxing a living from the soil and with his wife raised a successful and loving family. He hunted and fished the area, particularly enjoying time spent on Bayou Meto. Mr. Harkey delighted his family with tales of his mules and their antics, as well as of his comrades and their outdoor enjoyments. We will miss his laughter and jokes which were always accompanied by a twinkle in his blue eyes. Services will be held Tuesday (3 Nov 1998) at 10 a.m. at Wilson-Stephens Funeral Chapel in England. Interment will be at Mulberry Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today (2 Nov 1998) at the funeral home.
