Dear Cousins: Have been researching the Hartke Name for some time. The name may also be Hatke. Not sure which came first. Both spellings are in church records in Germany. My ancestors came from the province of Hanover. The towns were Furstenou, Voltlage and Kalinghausen. The earliest ancestor I have is George Henry who had a son John Herman (probably more). John Herman had 4 sons named John Heinrich, John Dirk, John Herman and John Gerhard. I am willing to share any and all info with anyone researching the Hartke name.
