Hi Bill, Please see if you think I have this right. I think this is from O. B. Harkey's book. William Pinckney Harkey was born Feb 1832 in Madison Co. Illinois on May 4, 1854 he married Clarinda Tennis daughter of John Tennis . She was born Nov 26 1835.in Montgomery Illinois. In 1854 They moved to California and arrived July 31, 1854 in Marysville .They were married in St. Joseph Missouri He was in the Teaming /freighting business to the mines. In 1860 settled in Yuba City and 1867 owned a farm in Sutter Co. 1884 a farm in Butte Co. In 1874 had home in Yuba City. In 1873 elected sheriff of Sutter Co. Ca served 10 years 10 months and was re-elected and served another 16 years and 10 months. Their children were--------------- 1. William Solomon Harkey June 14, 1862 married Mamie T. Deane and had Clare I and Wm. Pinckney 2. a child born March 23, 1855 3. a child born March 23? 1857 4. Ida Virginia born Feb 24 1858 married H. G. Pierson and W. H. Campbell had daughter---- Idylene 5. Hattie M. born Dec 24. 1859 6. Lincoln born March 4. 1865. Bill, since the first time I heard about this man I have been facinated by yet another Harkey Lawman. It does seem to run in the family. I would be honored to have a photograph of him as would several others on this list. I am getting quite a collection of our Harkey ancestors and their families. Does such a photograph exist.?? Did he keep any diarys or write any letters describing his life? Those were wild and wooly days and he must have been quite a man.
