    3. Tom nothing surprises me about Harkeys. Martin first appears in Mecklenburg Co. NC when he bought land in 1769. This is the one married to Catherine Barringer. She was not from the same Barringers as John P. Mathias etc. at least not that I can find. Let us call this Martin 1744 the year we think he was born . He had a son Martin 1771 who married Christine Mensinger. Martin 1771 had a son Martin 1813 who married Polly Cress Martin 1744 had a son John who had Martin 1789 who married Catherine Condor. David Harkey son of Martin 1744 had a son Martin 1816 who married Polly Barnhart. With so many Martins it is always confusing. This very old information is hard to sort out. Thanks for keeping at it.
