    1. Re: Charlie Bascum HARKEY - Mississippi
    2. First of all, would everyone who responds to this HARKEY query please post the response to the whole list. That will prevent a lot of duplication of effort. Thanks. Flicka, I don't have any information on your Charles Bascum HARKEY, but (as always) I'm willing to make a wild guess on the flimsiest of evidence. He may be a descendant of Daniel David HARKEY. Tell us, have you searched the Mississippi censuses? I have looked only at the 1850 MS census, but even in just that one census, I see plenty of clues to follow up. For example, there are a few HARKEY families and one RAY family in Itawamba Co. MS, and more HARKEYs (Daniel David and married son Samuel Jones) in Pontotoc Co. MS. Itawamba, Pontotoc, and Lee (where your Charles Bascum HARKEY was born) are counties all in a row. "Bascum" is a name that appears among the descendants of Daniel David HARKEY, who was in Pontotoc Co. MS until abt 1851; and one of his granddaughters married a RAY and moved away from Dunklin Co. MO. If you hear from anyone who has real information, would you please post it to the whole list. Thanks. Alma Roark Johnson [email protected]
