Next to the tombstone of Catherine Harkey in the San Saba City Cemetery is a tombstone which reads Israel Mathias Harkey June 9, 1797 November 3, 1896 Here in Spirit but remains Interred at Rogan Field Nov. 3, 1896 appears to be the correct death date, doesn't answer the question of where he was when the 1880 census and why Catherine would have been listed as a widow.
