Did the HARKEY list get two emails from me this afternoon relating to Kathy Speaks DeCarli's query: the first one (sent 3:32 p.m. PDT), which should have contained the HARKEY and SPEAKS entries in the 1900 OK census but didn't (I forgot to paste it in); and the second one (sent 4:59 p.m. PDT), which actually did have the census info? Both emails had basically the same subject line. I got my copy of the second one from HARKEY-L@rootsweb.com within a minute of sending it, that is, about 5:00 p.m. PDT. Yet two hours later, Mary wrote me a note that indicated that she had received only my first email. Just to be safe, I will copy my second email below. Sorry to be so tedious! The GOOD news is that (1) in the meantime, Kathy came through with her grandfather's birthdate and birthplace, and (2) the only SPEAKS family I looked up beyond the index appears to be the one Kathy is looking for! And if one goes by proximity, the family of Eli C. HARKEY may be the one who produced Charlie's mother, James SPEAKS's wife Mary. But I'll leave that for someone else who knows more about the Texas HARKEYs than I do. I ordered the census entries alphabetically by LOCATION. Look down to CHICKASAW NATION for the census entries being discussed. (Kathy, Milburn, OK, your grandfather's birthplace, was in the Chickasaw Nation at the time he was born.
