    3. Everyone makes a good point on this virus. It has come to me now 6 times. Nothing in the subject line is a good indication something is wrong. Also, if it was from someone you haven't heard from in a while. Three of them came from people I have met through rootsweb. Norton Antivirus just released an update so if you run Live Update, it will download it and find the viruses for you. They are tracking it now but it is so small and moved so fast it caught a lot of people off guard. 3. Just a gentle reminder. Even if you have an anti virus program (which does not guarantee all viruses will be caught) you must be sure to remember and update your virus checker often to stand a fighting chance. I used to update once a week, I have changed that to every other day for now. I have Norton and, so far, it has not missed a single one that I was hit with. Hope I didn't jinx it by saying that... <grin> Frankly, running without such a program is suicidal at this point in time. Nina

    3. I am going to be a pretty bad and mad listowner right now. Like a school teacher ,I have to scold everyone in hopes the guilty people will become aware of their faults. I have been at the hospital most of the time since last Friday with my husband who has had a triple by-pass surgery, I am tired and irritable. When I got home to rest a minute at my computer, I received over 300 email. I also received 9 copies of the BadTrans virus. These are from various members who belong to one of my lists to whom I am sending this email. I can't believe that there are those of you who do not know to protect your computer with a good anti virus program. There are numerous one's available that cost less than $60. I have two running on my machine. I can't believe that there are those of you who open an attachments when you don't know if you are opening a virus or not. This virus is running rampant and seems to be infecting many people's computers because their own ignorance . If you will not protect yourself and your computer and your friends who have to get your infected mail then maybe you should install Netscape or some other mail program than Microsoft. These things seem to be aimed at OutLook express. I am sorry that I feel I have to send this email. If you are not guilty of any offence then delete this and forget I sent it. If you are not sure, check your machine. If you have the virus it wasn't an accident you got it. What will you do when a really bad one comes along that will fry your computer? And of course, if you have Norton on your computer, hopefully you have it running constantly to always be checking your computer for any kind of virus. 1. Re: [HARKEY-L] Texas is a big swamp!
    2. John, Would you please send the complete census entries for the two households you asked about in Hopkins Co. TX. I am referring particularly to the relationships of the household members to the head of the household (wife? sister? stepson? etc.). Also, the 1910 census should show how many years the head of household has been married, and which marriage (1, 2, etc.) it is for the person. That might be useful, too. Thanks. Alma

    2. Toni, You sent a post today to the HARKEY list re Israel & Catherine Furr HARKEY, which I read just before I took a nap. Now I see what may be a second email from you, except that your email address starts with an underline character (_jlsteele@ktsnet.com). The email has no text in the body of the email, but it does have an attached document, called: news_doc.DOC.scr 28K The fact that no explanation accompanied the attachment makes me suspicious (as does the altered address). Did you actually send it, or is it a virus? If you sent it, please tell us what is in it. Thanks! Alma Roark Johnson
