    3. Hi Lon Wheeler and Hello Harkey list. The Conrad Harkey you mentioned is noted in Kegley's Virginia Frontier Pg 172 it says 1754 Conrad Harkey --- on John's Creek-- Survey 75 acresand 66acres A woman wrote to me and said that Conrad was mentioned in Chalkleys? Which I have no access to--and she said that in 1755 he was delinquent paying his taxes. I was wondering if maybe he died. Joseph Harkey in his book " The Harkey Family in North Carolina" states. "Martin and David are two of the three sons who came south, of course, and the third may well be Conrad Harkey, who owned land in what is now the westernmost part of Virginia in 1754. His home was near the old north-south Indian highway running through the Shenandoah valley, the road that German pioneers and their ministers used to go from Lancaster and Youk counties in Pa. to the Yadkin section of N. C. Thus Conrad Harkey may have left Pa during an exodus of Germans in 1750 etc." I think we really have a great need to know who Conrad was. I have a big database of Martin's line which I will share and I like to receive other Harkey researchers gedcom's. My feelings are that information about our common ancestors belong to all of us. I am going to a reunion for the next 3 days, but my computer will be receiving mail while I am gone. I am delighted that we have this list. I hope to meet and talk to everyone on it. 3. Have traced the Harkey Clan back to David Harkey who was born around 1750. In the Revolutionary War, he was a Loyalist and was captured with Cornwallis and was inprisioned in New York for about 18 months. Later he was deported to Grand Bay, Kings Co. New Brunswick. He had purchased a plantation of 300 acres at New Montgomery in Montogomery Co. N. C. before the war. This land was confiscated and sold and wife and children were driven off of the land. My wife is a descendant of George Harkey, one of his sons. Have not been able to locate anything else about him. Would like to know where and when he died and also who his parents were. It is thought that Conrad Harkey of Augusta Co. Virginia might be his father. The Harkeys came to Arkansas from N. C. in 1839 and settled in Pope Co. Will share other information if you connect. Please contact me by E-mail ( [email protected]) Thanks, Lon Wheeler, Houston, Texas
