    3. Hi Betsy, Yes, this is the address to use to post to this list. :-) hare@rootsweb.com Thanks for posting - I didn't realise I had missed removing the footer information about the list being adoptable until I saw it. Taken care of that now. Wendy On Sun, May 13, 2018 at 5:42 AM, B.H. 1. [HARE] This list is working again
    2. Wendy Howard
    3. Hi everyone, My name is Wendy Howard, and I've volunteered to administer this mailing list today. I see there is no archive for this list at the moment - that means that no-one has posted to the list since it was reinstated in March, so I'm here to start the ball rolling. If this is the first that you've heard the Rootsweb mailing lists are back, you may like to check out the information on the Rootsweb home page ( http://rootsweb.com/) and follow the link under the 6 March 2018 update to set up your new login for the mailing lists. This is not compulsory, but it will allow you to check and change your settings. If you're subscribed to lists with more than one address, you can combine them under one login once it's set up for the first email address. I have no idea at this point in time how busy this list used to be - the old posts will be made available in the list archive when the staff are able to get to it, there's a long list of things to be done to get Rootsweb back to what it used to be, so have patience on that. Meanwhile, please feel free to get back to posting here about your queries and connections concerning the HARE name. Kind Regards, Wendy Howard Kaiwaka, New Zealand

    1. [HARE] CROOKS - HARE Family Photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel via
    3. I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the CROOKS Family of Maryland. The first is a photograph of Helen CROOKS which was taken at the J. H. SCHAEFER Studio in Baltimore, MD. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900s and indicates that Helen is just 5 years old at the time it was taken. The second photograph is identified as Jessie CROOKS and was taken at the same studio indicating that she is 7 years old at the time. Both photographs also note that they are "Nimrod's Sisters" and also include the name "Jessie BONER" on the back of each photograph, as is that is who the photographs were given to at some point in time. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family: Jessie M. CROOKS was b. abt 1901 in Maryland to Mother Annie B. CROOKS (b. abt 1861 in Maryland). She had one sister, Helen J. CROOKS b. 1903. Jessie married Cloyd E. BONER (b. 23 Jul 1897 in Covington, IN. Helen J. CROOKS b. 7 Jan 1903 in Maryland married Thurman R. HARE (b. 3 Jan 1903 in Baltimore, MD - d. 24 Dec 1950 in Baltimore, MD) on 16 Jul 1942. Helen died in Atlanta, GA on 11 Feb 1993. Census records provide the following details: 1920 census of Baltimore, MD: Clinton A. STOUFFER, age 64, born MD, parents born MD, a Ship Yard Riveter Annie B. STOUFFER, wife, age 59, born MD, parents born MD Jessie M. CROOKS, step-dau, age 19, born MD, parents born MD, a Railroad Clerk Helen J. CROOKS, step-dau, age 17, born MD, parents born MD 1930 census of Baltimore, MD: Annie V. STOUFFER, age 69, a widow, born MD, parents born MD Jessie M. CROOKS, dau, age 28, born MD, parents born MD, a Railroad Clerk Helen J. CROOKS, dau, age 26, born MD, parents born MD, a Bank Stenographer + 1 Roomer 1940 census of Baltimore, MD: Helen J. CROOKS, age 37, born MD, a Petroleum Co. Secretary Charles H. HOFF Sr., uncle, age 62, born MD, a Steam Railroad Freight Clerk Helen A. HOFF, aunt, age 60, born MD Charles H. HOFF Jr., cousin, age 25, born MD, Aircraft Plant Worker I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photographs can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

Davis, (26 May 1924, Brighton, Ont.), and then had a daughter Ruth Amelia Davis? Ruth Davis married a Cyril Raymond Dodd on 10 November 1945, in Toronto. I have photos of Irene and her husband Art Davis as well as Ruth and her husband Cyril Dodd. Invariably one finds that this Stephen is given an 1824 death date in virtually every report on him. But it's clear he had another 20 years on him, even though this notice is not at all hard to find. 1. [HARE] Henry Hare (1771-1845) son of Daniel, of Coeymans & DeWitt, NY
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Zilpha84 Surnames: Hare, Spencer, Haynes, Haines, Soul, Soule, Gage, Rector Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.hare/942/mb.ashx Message Board Post: In his will, which was signed in January and proved in May 1845, Henry Hare parcels out his farm acreage to his seven children, and notes that his four sons are already residing on their shares. No wife is mentioned, so I take that to mean that he is a widower. So the Sarah Hare (ca.1771-1848) buried in Collamer Cemetery in DeWitt, Onondaga County, NY is not his wife since she outlived him, but possibly an unmarried sister. Since Henry Sr. came late in life to DeWitt, it is possible that his wife is buried in Coeymans, Albany, Co. His sons, in age order, are Peter, Henry Jr., William, and Caleb. This contradicts the previous assignment of Peter as his half-brother. Peter and Henry Jr. are also buried in Collamer Cemetery with their wives, Jane and Isabel, respectively. Caleb outlived his father by only a few years. His wife was Jane A. Spencer, daughter of Seth & Mindwell Spencer. Caleb and Jane had two daughters, Jane A. Hare and Catherine A. Hare. William Hare and his wife Permelia moved to Kenosha County, Wisconsin. His three daughters named in age order are Betsey, wife of Abraham W. Haynes of Coeymans (they later moved to Lenox, Madison, NY); Polly wife of Frederick C. Soule of Coeymans (they moved to DeWitt in 1848); and Ester wife of Felix Gage of Coeymans (they later moved to Coxsackie, Greene, NY) Polly Soule is also buried in Collamer Cemetery in DeWitt with her husband Frederick, however someone has identified her on findagrave as Mary Rector Soule, dau. of John and Margaret Rector. I contacted an administrator on the site who confirmed that she is really Polly Hare Soule. Witnessing Henry Hare's will was Daniel W. Hare of DeWitt (later of Syracuse) who was his half-brother ( or possibly nephew). Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. As i mentioned, I had the David Hare kit put in the Hare/Haire project,....and they never told me about a possible match. I have put Jacob and his family into my tree so i can learn about them. The Ancestry autosomal and FtDNA autosomal may be too far back for any matches to my dna. I checked for Thayers. We'll see what excuse ftdna has for this problem.
