Diana Harding: I am of the Capt. Stephen HARDING line, but another branch. Micajah was a brother of the Stephen HARDING, Jr. of my husband's line. Capt. Stephen HARDING and Amy GARDNER had Stephen Jr, born 13 Jan 1749 at Colchester, CT and died 4 Aug 1816 at Exeter Twp, Lucerne Co, PA. He married l) Prudence GUSTIN (or AUSTIN?), 2) Jain WILKIN. Brothers of Stephen Jr. were mentioned in his will: Elisha and James. Other sons' names that I have were: John, Benjamin, Stuckley, Thomas, Israel, Micajah, William. Are these correct? Were there no daughters? Of his 1st marriage, Stephen and Prudence (GUSTIN/AUSTIN) HARDING had: 1) David b. 5 June 1767/8 at Colcheter CT; d. 6 Oct 1837 at Milan, IN He was captured by Indians at Wyoming Massacre as a boy, when his uncles Stuckley and Benjamin were killed.     3. This is not a web site. It is a mailing list. If you wrote it as a mail message and it hasn't appeared my only thought is you sent it to the wrong address. There have been NO bounced emails to this list recently. [Bounced emails occur when the writer is not a subscriber or they send a message to the subscribe address.] Obviously you have the address right so I assume that isn't it. Do you have a copy of the message in your outbox so you can check to see what happened? Did you accidently forget to hit the send button after all that typing? I don't mean to suggest anything, just have no idea why it wouldn't show up, and that's something I've done. You can always forward the copy in your outbox to the list.     3. Hi I do not know a lot about my Harding people but maybe someone can add a little. My GGGrandfather was James Harding b 1822 Pa., m Mary Carpenter b 4 July,1826 Ohio m Dec 8,1842. They had 10 children the first born was my GGrandmother Rebecca b dec 4,1843 Noble Co.,Ohio allof the children were born in Noble Co. the others are James abt 1847 Jane abt 1849 Ed abt 1852 Jasper abt 1855 Samuel abt 1858 Rilley abt 1861 Mary abt 1866 John abt 1869 Harmon abt 1872. Rebecca married John House Dec 30,1860 some of their children were born in Noble Co. Ohio. They moved to Iowa my Grandfather was born there then they moved to Kansas.     3. It has been a while since I tried this so thought I would try again. I am looking for information on Isaac HARDING and his wife Phebe whose maiden name may have been COMFORT. Isaac was born about 1755 and died in 1818 and lived most of his life in Southampton and Northampton, Bucks Co., PA. The couple had eight children including a daughter Sarah who married Jacob Twining and a son who was still a minor when his father died. Anne Sloan

    3. >From Dick Eastman's Online Genealogy newsletter [and it works]: MultiGen Charles A. Culman says that he had frustrations when trying to search different genealogy databases on the Web. Each database has its own interface with its own set of commands. This makes it difficult to switch from one to the other. Perhaps even worse, it is easy to overlook a vital database. Culman decided that he could invent a better method. "Primarily, I built the tool for my own use," said Culman. "When I couldn't find anything on the web to do the same thing (a Dogpile for genealogy), I thought others might like it as well. I am also enjoying the ego boost of generating a lot of hits. And, I admit, I think it would be great to have someone come along and pay me to put an ad on the page, but I think that's a pipe dream." MultiGen is simplicity itself. Go to the MultiGen home page, fill in an ancestor's name, click on which of the seven databases you wish to search and then MultiGen does the search for you. You didn't find the desired information on the first database? All you need is two mouseclicks to search the next database. Simply click BACK in your Web browser and then click on the next database in the list.     3. Looking for infromation on my 4th great Grandparents: William MURPHY and Johanna HARDING b. ca. 1800 in Millstreet County Cork Ireland. They came to Geneva, NY about the time of the potato famine in Ireland. They had at least two sons, William Henry and Joseph, who married two HORTY sisters, from Andreawhan Co. Galway, Ireland, Bidget and Catherine. There is some evidence that the MURPHYs and/or the HARDINGs were connected to a NEARY family. All were active in the Catholic church of Palmyra, Wayne Co., NY and my MURPHY family ended up in Geneva, Ontario Co., NY. Census information from the 1850s indicates that some of my MURPHY family worked as stone cutters, probably on the Canal in that area, and may have some to Western NY and the Finger Lakes from Canada seeking work.     3. HARDING Leslie / PRICE Lillie; South Manchester, LAN,ENG,UK; 1908, 1887 I am from Canada and I am trying to trace my family history in England. My maternal grandfather "Leslie Herman HARDING" was born June 11, 1908 in South Manchester (I believe as he may have been born in Shrewsbury--see below). I am trying to find information on his father and mother but this has been difficult since his mother placed him in an orphanage when he was young and then had him sent to Canada to work on farms with the other orphans. His mother's name was "Lillie PRICE" (born 1887) I believe and she was a domestic servant from what I can tell. She worked in Shrewsbury and he remembers growing up there. He lived with his maternal grandparents until he was 3 1/2 years old. He came to Canada around 1921. His mother's address was listed as 43 Webster Street, South Manchester, England. He lived at 9 Robin Hood Terrace in Shrewsbury. He has always told us he was born in Shrewsbury but his birth certificate says South Manchester.     3. I don't know what software you are using but PAF 4.0 is now available as a free download. This is the new Windows version of the original Mormon genealogy software. Readers of these lists probably already have their favorite software but this might just the ticket for someone just starting out. The price is right and [remembering back to version 2] it is not a difficult program to use. At the moment it is available at: http://www.familysearch.org Click on "What's New."
