I've just read through Randall J. Handley's on-line manuscript and noticed that a very important Handley is missing (important because it is my ancestor!) Using his numbering Ha-111 Archibald Handley had a daughter Elizabeth on 28 Dec 1829 resulting in his wife's(Elizabeth Barbee) death on 8 Jan 1830. She was raised by her aunt, Ha-15 Margaret Campbell. Elizabeth returned the favor because Margaret lived with Elizabeth and her husband David Henderson Bell until her death in 1861. I thought that the kindness shown by these 2 women should not be forgotten. Randall J. Handly mentions the Harry E. Handley Manuscript that I have been searching for. Does anyone know how to reach Randall? Is the Ft. Scott,KS address current? When was this written? Thanks Kristine - ---------------------------------------------------- Get the Latest News at CNN Interactive: http://CNN.com
Dear Kristine, My Grandmother is not mentioned in the Randall J. Handley book either. I know she was part of this family because even though there is not birth certificate, her Stepsisters and stepbrothers recognized her as a part of her family. I am not even sure who her father was even though she thought he was a Covey and worked on building the first bridge over the Missouri at Nebraska City. Randall has listed her grandfather John Mason Handley & her mother Hattie Bernice Handley. though One or two members of the family dod not recognize her.
