The land for the inn was leased to a John HANLEY / HANLY. Hanley's Inn c 1840, was located on a 10 acre block overlooking the Yass River [Yass, NSW]. The river crossing for heavy wagons - overlanders on their way to the Port Phillip District, was just below this inn. This crossing was used as an alternative to Walsh's Crossing above Flat Rock.
