Forwarded from djackson@InfoAve.Net: Ellie, I looked at NC records for Handleys during the Revolution. I found Capt. Samuel Handly, born in NC and was one of the King's Mountain Men. I also found Joseph Handley of Granville Co. NC who received a voucher for being in the Continental Line payments were made in 1792 that were due in 1783. Also William Handley, Shephards Co. enlised 28 July 1777 served for 3 years in the 10th Regt. of Abraham Shephard. Also the roll of Capt. Benjamin Coleman's Co. 2nd. NC Battalion commanded by Col. John Patton, White Plains, 9 Sept 1778 William Handley, Pvt. 28 July 1777 3 years service. The returns of the 2nd NC Battalion reinlisted William Handley 12 March 1779 in Capt. Colemans Co. In Virginia records I found that in the Lunenburg Co. VA ORder book 1748-1752, April Court 1751. William Handly petitioner agst. Richard Yarbro, petitioner to recover 2 pounds 3 shillings in debt. IN the Cumberland Parish of Lunenburg Co. VA Vestry Book William Handly denyed by the processioners on 10 March 1768. Also there was James Handly who was exempted from payment of parish levies for the future 1751 in Cumberland Parish, Lueneburg Co. VA. In Northumberland Co. VA John Hanley signes an oath to the Commonwealth of England 13 April 1652. Does anyone know about these Handleys?
