Eg see http://lcweb.loc.gov/z3950/ Does anyone have, or know how to find an on line catalogue for libraries in Ireland, particularly Roscommon? I thought we may be able to find the names of local histories of villages etc which may help in research. Certainly in Australia I have been able to get a lot of cooperation in getting book indexes transcribed as a research tool and getting lists of relevant books. See www.rootsweb.com/~nswbelli/books.html and some of the links from that page including library catalogues, indexes and the transcription project. If we each bought/borrowed one book and put the index on line (eg on a page in the Leitrim Roscommon web page if the site owners were happy to host it) we could get a couple of hundred indexes on line in no time, maybe even get privately published authors to agree to having their whole book put on line for download in PDF format. We already have Pete Hanly's manuscript available for download from the Hanly history page on Bellingen Gen Web http://www.rootsweb.com/~nswbelli/archive/hanlyhistory.html Any one else willing to do this? Any one have URL's for Irish/Roscommon library catalogues? Cheers Paul Hanly Rhodes, Sydney, Australia >>
