    3. Hello Dominique, since writing to you on the 8th of Jan I have been, for the first time, to an LDS centre & done some research. I found our William Hanley, at the age of 7 living with his parents, William Hanley & Hannah Hanley (nee Conway/McConway/McConnoway) in the 1881 census for Glasgow. The address is 13 Weaver St Glasgow. William Hanley 1st is aged 49 which makes his DOB around 1832 in Roscommon IRE & Hannah was aged 46 so born around 1835 in Donegal IRE. I have found a marriage with the right names, William Hanlan & Hannah Conway on 17th Dec 1854 in Glasgow. Their children on the census are..... Annie 21 (est 1859) (in the IGI to William Handley & Ann Conway). Ellen 17 (est 1864) (in the IGI to William Hanley & Hannah McConway). James 15 (est 1866) (in the IGI to William Handley & Hannah Conway). Mary 10 (est 1871) (in the IGI to William Hanlay & Hannah McConnoway). William 7 (est 1874) (in the IGI to William Hanley & Hannah McConnoway). There were also 2 other children that I found in the IGI...... William born 1857 (in the IGI to William Handley & Hannah McConway). Hannah born 1869 (in the IGI to William Hanlay & Hannah McConoway). There may have been another before William (1857) which would account for the gap between marriage & children. I have also found a Hannah McConway born on the 17th Dec 1832 to Daniel McConway & Isabella Tonner in Donegal Ireland. They were married in 1830 in Donegal. William Hanley (1874) went on to become a French Polisher & married Hannah McNeilage who was born in Glasgow in 1877 to John & Martha McNeilage. William & Hannah ( I think it is rather funny that he, with his fathers name, married a woman with his mothers name)had approx 5 children. I can't know for sure as I can't get to Scotland, but Hannah Hanley was born in 1897 (the one who came here). The presumption about her siblings comes from old photos that her daughter has. There is a photo of Jeannie, Lily & Emily & a photo of a grave with the headstone for William Hanley born 1900 died 1943 & his father standing next to it. Sonny is a name that was known to be her brother ? Maybe there is a link here !!! Alexander & Francis may be the children of William Hanley's (1832) brothers (who ever they were). Do you know who their parents were ? I haven't been able to locate any real possibilities for Williams parents but they may be the common thread here. I will go back to LDS & see what I can find. Do you have any old photos ? Maybe we have photos of the same people. I have many old photos with no names. hope to hear from you VERY soon <grin> Carolyn McInnes
