Judy, from what I have seen, three brother (one was father James, so they say) went south into SC, NC and TNand lived there and returned to VA., I guess w/va. today. Nancy remember that info I sent you in the mail, 2 yrs ago? on this very subject? I think every one has the story abt 3 brothers coming to the new world. The oldest Bable i can find in the family, was three brothers came and the families moved out of VA., across country to ILL and some turned and went south and that is the gang i am from. ha ha. My 4xGreat Grandfather from east Tenn., i found records where his first 3 children were b. in ILL. This I found on census records in AL., and Civil War records on my 3xGreat Grandfather James and his brother William Payton. They were in the Union Army and living in AL.
