My Great Grandmother, Anna Handley, was born in 1847 in Canada. It is her father, John, I am searching for. I would assume he was born anywhere from 1790 to 1827. I have not a clue as to where in England he was born. The woman he married was born in New York of native American decent. All of the information I have was obtained from a 1900 census. Dodge City, Kansas. My great grandmother was a widow by this time and had only one child living with her. The child was my grandmother Grace Mendal Geedeson b January 16, 1887 Dodge City, Kansas. My grandmother's sister, Clara Ruth Geedeson was b May 8, 1878 Council Bluffs, Iowa. I found a newspaper obituary for two of Anna Handley Geedeson's children who died in 1887 in Dodge City. Their names were: Lettie Geedeson b 1880 d June 29,1887 and Jonny b 1883 d July 13, 1887. If any of these dates show up on your Handley records, let me know. Thanks for your prompt reply to my inquiry. Carol Synness

Greetings, Working on the descendants of James Valandington Handley and Apphia Mae Bensley of Coles Co., IL. What I have been able to determine from LDS films and census records is attached below. I'm hoping that there might be a descendant or other savant out there who could fill in some of the later lines. Remarks: 1) The James Valandingham Handley/Sarah Melvina Nees marriage was not recorded in Coles Co. or Clark Co., IL records that I have seen. Indeed, later marriages for both are recorded, and each person (James and Sarah) indicated that the latter marriage was their first. 2) Apphia Mae Bensley, second wife of James, was a grand-daughter of my g.-g.-grandfather John Higinbotham -- hence my interest in this line of descendants. I can supply further information on request. She married John Geedeson from Denmark. They lived in Iowa and Kansas. Anna was born in Canada but her mother was born New York. Her father, John Handley was born England. She was listed in the 1900 Dodge City, KS census as Ann Gedason and stated she was naturalized in 1887. She died in Pueblo, Co March 10, 1925. Is there any one out there that might have a relationship with her? She was Native American on her mother's side. She stated in the 1900 Dodge City, KS census that she had given birth to 10 children. I only knew of two of them: Grace Mendal Geedeson b 1/16/1887 Dodge City, KS; Clara R Geedeson b 5/8/1878 Council Bluffs, Ia. Three of her children died in January, June and July of 1887 Dodge City, KS. Carol Synness >>

Help!!! I need some help thinking through uploading the Mortimeyer and Handly books to make them available on-line. This seems like such a great idea, and we have permission. But someone reminded me that it is not a good idea to post information (like birth dates, mothers' maiden names, etc) about living people on-line. Is there a workable solution to this problem? Just upload parts of the books? Thanks!!!! Nancy Sween
