Hello Patrick, Your message caught my eye. Do I assume that the (Igo) is a maiden name? Here's why I find that interesting --- In the book The Surnames of Ireland" by MacLysaght, under the listing for Hanl(e)y, it reads " An important Connacht sept. A branch migrated to co. Cork , etc. See Jago."..and under "Jago" it reads "Basically the same as Jacob .i.e. of Cornish origin....In County Roscommon they are a branch of the O'Hanley's and it is called Igoe." Hello Mike and listers, I am still trying to confirm if this tomb is in the Kilgefin Parish cemetery. The headstone inscription is given in the publication "The Irish Genealogy Handbook". After her death, Thomas married Cecilia Dufficy (B:Dec 1,1850) in Wisconsin, USA. Cecilia died on Sep 28,1935 in Pendleton, Oregon. They had two children that I know of, John Connor (B: Jun 6, 1998) and Nora Connor (B: May 26,1887) both in Murray County. John Connor married a woman by the first name of Julia and they ahd two children, Cordelia Connor and Wayne Connor. Nora married a fellow by the name of Swartz. They had one child that I know of, George Swartz. Nora is also buried in the Pendleton area of Oregon State. Cecilia's parents were Martin Dufficy and Nora Flannigan both from Co. Roscommon, Ireland. Our ancestor William HANDLEY was born (according to his marriage cert.) about 1835, a foundling, parents unknown, possibly in England according to family story. He married Mary HOLMES in Glasgow 1860 and the rest of the family are thereafter of Scottish descent. I assume this is a genuine brickwall and that we may never get any further back in time but thought I would ask the list for any suggestions - if any - as to any possible avenues of research. William was a weaver by trade and he and his wife Mary were the last hand loom weavers in Kirkintilloch. His marriage cert gives name as HANSLEY, signature on his son's marriage cert. "Wm. Handley or just William Handley it will bring up the Ancestry tree..and in it there is a pedigree sheet for William and his children..click on Michael and see if this is the one that you are looking for..He is about the same timeframe..and I know that John his brother was born in Newton Co.
