    3. Hello Patrick, Your message caught my eye. Do I assume that the (Igo) is a maiden name? Here's why I find that interesting --- In the book The Surnames of Ireland" by MacLysaght, under the listing for Hanl(e)y, it reads " An important Connacht sept. A branch migrated to co. Cork , etc. See Jago."..and under "Jago" it reads "Basically the same as Jacob .i.e. of Cornish origin....In County Roscommon they are a branch of the O'Hanley's and it is called Igoe." Do you suppose this has any connection for you? Faith Hanley Bailey BART1952@aol.com wrote: > Dear Jen, > I read your E-mail with much interest. 2. Jennifer Lambert Tracey
    3. Hello Mike and listers, I am still trying to confirm if this tomb is in the Kilgefin Parish cemetery. The headstone inscription is given in the publication "The Irish Genealogy Handbook". If anyone has a copy of this book to hand, would you please check the page for me, to see if a location is provided. If anyone is able to assist I would be very grateful. This is the headstone inscription for the HANLY tomb. 'Erected to the memory of the ancient family of Kilmacor by Patrick Hanly. The mothers’ names for four generations were Anne Dufficy, Kate Cline, Margaret O’Farrell, ( Anne O’Hanly, Mabel McLoughlin ) Jane O’Connor., Also ( in fond memory of John Hanly 50 years and his children James Hanly 68 years Bridget Hanly 70, Richard 34, Jane 57. Last week I sent out the under noted message to your individual email addresses. However, at or about the same time I was having problems with my server etc and wasn't sure if any of these messages made it to their destinations. Adding further doubt was that no messages were received by me either confirming knowledge etc. about this line of the Dufficy family. In light of the above, I thought I would re-send the message. The gist of the previous message was that I have previously identified a number of ancestors that are from Co. Roscommon, Ireland. My g.g.g. grandparents, Terence Connor his wife Mary Stewart and their children Thomas and Mary Connor in particular. In Oct, 1847 they were emigrated to the U.S. and eventually made their way to Murray County, Minnesota in the 1860's. Thomas eventually married Mary Willard/Cochlin. After her death, Thomas married Cecilia Dufficy (B:Dec 1,1850) in Wisconsin, USA. Cecilia died on Sep 28,1935 in Pendleton, Oregon. They had two children that I know of, John Connor (B: Jun 6, 1998) and Nora Connor (B: May 26,1887) both in Murray County. John Connor married a woman by the first name of Julia and they ahd two children, Cordelia Connor and Wayne Connor. Nora married a fellow by the name of Swartz. They had one child that I know of, George Swartz. Nora is also buried in the Pendleton area of Oregon State. Cecilia's parents were Martin Dufficy and Nora Flannigan both from Co. Roscommon, Ireland. If there is any connection could you please contact me direct at your convenience. Thanks in advance Mike Connor Abbotsford, British Columbia Canada

    2. Hi Fordyce: It took me a while to figure out the comparisons in our Handley line, but I'm answering your question with a "yes".....The Constantine you asked me about is the same one who is my husband's great great grandfather. He was married to Mary Roach. I'm going to try to copy Richard's family outline here by copying and pasting. Here goes: Well, it worked, but not in very good form. 1. [HANDLEY-L] William HANDLEY
    2. Ross and Marilyn
    3. Our ancestor William HANDLEY was born (according to his marriage cert.) about 1835, a foundling, parents unknown, possibly in England according to family story. He married Mary HOLMES in Glasgow 1860 and the rest of the family are thereafter of Scottish descent. I assume this is a genuine brickwall and that we may never get any further back in time but thought I would ask the list for any suggestions - if any - as to any possible avenues of research. William was a weaver by trade and he and his wife Mary were the last hand loom weavers in Kirkintilloch. His marriage cert gives name as HANSLEY, signature on his son's marriage cert. "Wm. HANLY, father." Marilyn HANDLEY Australia
