    1. [HANDLEY-L] Want to join the MyFamily HANDLEY site?
    2. I've just set up a site for anyone who wants to share (or get) information about the Handley, Hanley, Handly, etc. family. The site let me invite 10 people at first, so I picked some email addresses off the subscribers of this list. Most of you didn't get a personal invitation, so if you want to at least look around the new site, please let me know. MyFamily sends you a personal code to join, and only people who are invited can find the site. We can upload pictures and files, and can also set up family tree info, without having your own GED COM program. It's all free. The family tree info can be made public, but I'm not sure if the pictures and file data becomes public beyond our own group or not. Anything you post can be read and downloaded by other members of our MyFamily group, at any rate. Let me know if you want to check it out. Thanks. Nancy Sween http://members.aol.com/Sftrail/handley/

    3. I too am enterested in MyFamily HANDLEY site and would like to join. I have been monitoring this site for two years but have found nothing regarding my Handley family. We have followed Mary Ann Handley and her family from Greenbrier County, WV to Laclede County, MO but there has never been a husband. We think he is a figment of her imagination. I know you don't have my Handley family in your files, but if you want it, I'll send it. Not much there. What else do I have to do? 3. Nancy, I took a quick look at your new HANDLEY page. I would like to join the group. I have one correction to make in the info giving comments on their family history by others seeking help. It lists my e-mail as handley@shoalsnet.com. This ISP went out of business and my address at the present time is handley@getaway.net. I am considering a new ISP but have nothing yet to pass on. 1. [HANDLEY-L] HANLEY-L messages have been added
    2. Hi, all. It looks like we are now getting messages posted to the HANLEY-L group as well as to HANDLEY-L. Rootsweb offered this option and I asked for it a long time ago. Thought they weren't going to do it, but looks like they have now. Also, if I remember right, we are supposed to get messages posted on the HANDLEY family GenConnect Bulletin Board, too. Nancy

    2. In a message dated 4/27/2000 12:13:35 PM Central Daylight Time, solange@irishabroad.com writes: << We just wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that we have added a powerful new tool to our genealogy section, a database drawn from O’Harts Irish Pedigrees. Please have a look at the following press release and then come sample the Pedigree Database for yourself! IRISHABROAD.COM ANNOUNCES NEW IRISH GENEALOGY DATABASE For Irish Descendent Seeking Their Roots SAN FRANCISCO, April 14 - IrishAbroad.com is pleased to announce the arrival of its much-anticipated Pedigree Database, based on the definitive source for Irish genealogy, John O’Hart’s “Irish Pedigrees: Origin and Stem of the Irish Nation.” This new feature is perfect for Irish genealogy enthusiasts, history buffs, or even those just curious about the origin of their surname. One of the best-known references on Irish genealogy in the world, O’Hart’s “Pedigrees” was compiled over the course of decades by Irish genealogist and historian John O’Hart (1824-1902). O’Hart drew from a wide variety of sources to compile his extensive records of Irish families, many traced back to Milesius of Spain and some reputedly all the way back to Adam. His principal sources of information were Gaelic genealogies, including the Annals of the Four Masters, augmented by extensive auxiliary sources. There are two types of genealogies included in the database, those of the Gaelic families and those of the Anglo-Irish and other later settlers of Ireland. The Pedigree Database is surprisingly easy to use. Users simply type in their surname or town of choice and examine the results returned. This exceptionally useful tool can be used to trace ancestry, delve into the origin of a name, or get information on the course of Irish history. The Pedigree Database can be found at the IrishAbroad website at the following link: http://www.irishabroad.com/Genealogy/Pedigree.htm IrishAbroad, the world’s largest online community for those with an interest in all things Irish, can be found at: http://www.irishabroad.com Cheers, IrishAbroad.com Contact: Solange ni Morain IrishAbroad.com (415) 369-0993 >>

    3. Dear Barbara: I'm sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. I've been swamped. The Garrett Handley I know about was related to Jeremiah Handley, whose estate was probated in 1825, Athens Co. Ohio, Wb 1 B p. 153. I have a copy of the one page, which is an account of the goods and chattels of Jeremiah's estate, presented by Jeremiah Handley Jr., and Garret Handley, administrators. The goods listed were set off to the Widow for her support. Signed by Abel Man, Chauncey Ward and Timothy Goodrich, who appraised the items. Dean Johnston at dbjohnston@juno.com is the one who has done a lot more on this line. He had the following children for Jeremiah: William who m. Lucinda Trap; Michael; Jeremiah, Jr. who m. Pamela Beers/Burris; I have in 1807 WAsh. Co. Ohio, Adams Twp. Wm. Hanley and J. Hanley, Jr. (My William who m. Eliza. Hutchinson) 1810 William Hanley in Adams Twp. Wash. Co. OH: 2 males under 10; 1 male 25-45; one fem. 16-24. Prob. my Wm. 1811 Adams Twp. Wm. Handley (Jeremiah is no longer there). 25 Jan 1815 Jeremiah Hanley m. Pamela Bers (Beers or Burris); Wash. Co. OH. 1820 CEnsus Athens Twp., Athens Co. Jaret: 26 - 45; 2 males under 10; one male 18-26; one fem. under 10; female 18-26. Wm.: 1 male 26-45; 2 males under 10; 1 fem. 26 - 45. In 1830: William is gone; Jeremiah, Michael and Garret still there. Garret: 1 male 40-50; 1 m. 5-10; 1 m 1-15; 1 fem. 40-50; 1 fem. 20-30; 2 f. 15-20; 1 fem. 10 -15; 1 fem. 5-10. Dean says Jeremiah was born in Ireland, but I've never seen any documentation of this. I have a cryptic note in my papers that says Jared Handley Homepage, Jason Allen Coffman; jasona1016@aol.com. I am researching a William Hanley who m. Elizabeth Hutchinson; he died before 1833. I thought he might be a son of Jeremiah Sr., since he lives by Jeremiah Jr. in Wash. Co., but Dean had his son William marrying a different woman. If you run across anything on Wm. let me know. My Wm. was born on or bef 1786. Eliz. Hutchinson was from Loudon Co. VA. The Jeremiah Handley fam. also lived in Loudon Co. acc. to Dean Johnson. Hope this helps you. THANKS. 2. carol ann berry
    3. The familytreemaker does the "fan" charts.Condensed and fast. When i first started i got a folding foam board at Staples and then printed out the lines in individual "descendant tree" lines and thumbtacked them to the board under their father until i got them to a point they were done. Then a lot of "scotch tape" to tie them together overlapping so i could fold up the lines when the "board" closed. It was an easy way to change or add to the family and my cousin could see all the generations without turning pages. When it was done i stapled or taped since the thumbtacks would occasionally fall out. If a family had 6 children i used 6 different colored papers to print each family. It looks like a rainbow but it keeps that line together down the board. Hope this gives you some other creative ways to display. Carol
