    3. Hi all, Does anybody have any Handley/Hanley/Hanly family trees (not just a name or two) where the majority of the people are in Roscommon, Ireland? Could you check for a Daniel Hanly, b 1840, father Michael mother Catherine (Hanly or Connor). Birthplace possibly Elphin, possibly spent time at Brierfield/Briarfield townland in Roscommon. Please consider variants in spellings eg Machul for Michael, prefix "O" for Hanly or Connor, Handley/Hanley/Hanly spellings. Many thanks Paul Hanly Rhodes, Sydney, NSW, Australia Searching for family (particularly siblings and ancestors) of Daniel Hanly, b 1840 Roscommon, IRE, migrated to Australia abt 1863 (ship unknown), m 1865 Margaret Danaher in Port Macquarie, NSW, settled at Spicketts Creek later called Brierfield, about 10 km from Bellingen NSW. Daniel is believed to have father Michael, Mother Catherine (Hanly or Connor). He may have lived in townland Brierfield, Cloonygormican, ROS about 1850 - 63. He may have been born in Elphin, ROS. He may have been a schoolteacher about 1855 - 1863. 3. Dear Sharon: I just happen to have an 1840 Madison Co. IL census page that has a Matthew Handley on it. You might want to look in an index to see if your Mitchell is located around there as well. I don't have other info: I actually copied the census page for another line, but I noticed the name because I have Handley in my background too. Good luck. 2. This looks like a lot of fun. I've already found a possible answer to someone's query about a family I couldn't find in the Andrew Co 1850 or 1860 censuses. The following census and index files are only free until August 20th. In the meantime, I have added a link to the Andrew Co MOGenWeb page for doing name searches at Ancestry.com, under "More Genealogy Related Searches". Surname searches are always free, and various revolving files are free for several days at a time, like these Missouri files. You can also subscribe for quarterly or annual membership, but for surname searches and some files, it is always free. Enjoy! 2. Carol, I remember something on the Harvey family, because I wrote one of my cousins (by marriage) whose maiden name was Harvey. She isn't much into genealogy. Your list is interesting, going back to some really early American Handley's and some familiar names. Thanks for sending it along. Nancy Nancy,do you remember way back a story i sent you on the Harvey family that said the Handley/Handly were connected to the Pollock(from Scotland)family.
