To the list: I asked Ronald to post the name of his CD, since I had posted a message directing people to the microfilm indices available at the Family History Library. The CD covers up to 1869, while the microfilm ship lists go into the early 1900s. Anytime you can get a CD and look at it at home while wearing your fuzzy bathrobe and bedroom slippers, I'm for it! It's still exciting to look at the microfilm of the original registers, and see you ancestor's names written in, with their occupations, how much they paid, etc. and to note other families on the same page (could be relatives). The later passenger lists also include the names of returning missionaries, so this source would be one place to look to confirm a relative had served a mission in Europe. Thanks, Ronald. P.S. You can order this CD through Deseret Book online (www.deseretbook.com). The cost is $19.95 plus shipping. If you are a Deseret Book Club member, you get a discount, plus credit for a purchase. The catalog number is SKU 3505075. The author is G. Davis. I was able to find it by searching for "Emigrant" as the keyword. ____________________Reply Separator____________________ Subject: [HANDCART-L] Emigrant CD Author: "Ronald Colby" <rmcolby@micro-net.com> Date: 6/8/98 1:56 PM Lynda The CDs name.
