Just a thought. Have looked looked for Lamb's families in the 1870 and 1880 censuses? Sometimes plural wives in their children are shown as a separate households within a dwelling (i.e., dwelling #180 with families #180 and #181). Second and subsequent wives often had separate houses and were enumerated as heads of household in the census. You could look for all surnamed Lamb in those towns in those census years. Check the IGI for marriages of Samuel Lamb. Before the feds put the heat on, these plural wives were sealed in the Endowment House. Since all EH marriages have been extracted and put in the IGI (main file), you might find more wives if you check there. The actual films for EH marriages are restricted to descendants; you can only make notes of your ancestors. I'm afraid I can't help with the local histories. The Pleasant Grove/Highland area is growing rapidly, with many new stake centers built in the last few years. Maybe someone nearby can check to see if the FHCs in that area might have a local history. Have you checked the FHL catalog? Many localities did local histories for the centennial in 1947. For local histories: Check the Library of Congress online catalog at www.loc.gov. searching by name of town as subject or key word. The BYU catalog is also online. The HBLL might have local histories. ____________________Reply Separator____________________ Subject: [HANDCART-L] Surname: LAMB Author: Elaine <elainec@stinger.net> Date: 8/11/98 9:04 AM Good morning to all! I am looking for information on my LAMB line. My third-great grandfather was Suel LAMB who crossed the plains and arrived in Utah in 1851/52. He was the son of Erastus LAMB and Abigail Mindwell JACKSON LAMB. Erastus died on the plains during the trip, but Abigail arrived with the rest of her family safely and settled in, I believe, Pleasant Grove, Utah, although she is buried in the Lehi Cemetery. Suel was eventually called to move his wife and family to help settle Hyde Park. He was a polygamist and is buried there with his first wife, Elizabeth ZIMMERMAN (my 3rd-great grandmother) and two other wives Anna WEIS and Susan KIRBY. I have heard that there may have also been two additional wives. Does anyone have information on any of these 2 (or 4) polygamous wives? Is anyone aware of any histories that have been written about Hyde Park, Pleasant Grove or Lehi? Any information is welcome and greatly appreciated. Have a great day!
