I am looking for information on the ancestry of Caroline Farozine SKEEN (b. 4/15/1812 in Sumner Co., Tennessee; died 8/4/1875 in Panguitch, Utah). She was my grandmother's great-grandmother. Caroline was a wife of John Lowe Butler, who I believe was prominent among the early Utah pioneers. During the past several months, I have been fortunate to find some information about her father's side (Jesse Skeen (b. 11/20/1764). However, I have not found much on the background of her mother. My grandmother always told me that she was part Cherokee on her father's side. I am focusing on Caroline Farozine Skeen's line as a possible source for locating our American Indian ancestor. I had also heard that some of the Mormon's took Indian wives at some point during their migration. I suppose it is also possible that I am searching the wrong line and should look at John Lowe Butler. Can anyone provide advice or recommendations concerning this search?
