Birthdates and first names always help ;) Eldon (my hubby) has the Wight line from New York and they settled in Brigham City. I have some pretty extensive histories on this group including some pictures. His ggggrandfather was Lewis Wight and his wife was Nancy Urania Elliot. They are both buried here in the Brigham City Cemmetery along with their son Charles Wight and his wife Sarah Ellen Loveless. Charles and Sarah Ellen's baby was the first documented burial in Brigham City and occured in 1853 just after the city was originally settled. The baby's grave was lost. In the late 1950's a horrible thunderstorm swept the area and a huge lightening bolt struck a really old pine tree in the cemmetery exploding it down to its roots. The next day when the cemmetery crew was cleaning up the mess they found a small marker under the roots of the tree. The marker was the baby's and the little grave was moved next to her mother's grave with a new marker added that this was the first burial in Brigham City. What a claim to fame....being the first one to die in a new area :( Lewis held some positions of importance during the early days of the church. I have that history. He was one of the original Animal Control Officers here in Brigham City (good old Dog Catcher ;). He is on the Court Records along with his sons extensively. He and his sons paid their tithing by bringing down from the Canyons the majority of the wood used in building the Box Elder County Courthouse and those records are recorded on the court records. Come on back at the list and/or me and if we can help we will.
