Terri and everyone While out and about today I picked up a book called "1997-98 Church Almanac" published by the Deseret News It contains a complete list of Ships, where they departed from and where and when they arrived. Also was a list of the Wagon Trains and Handcart Companys. There was a lot of Church History included. I bought my copy a Deseret Book. I checkec their web site and it is still available there. www.deseretbook.com We have had alot of traffic on this subject latelly and thought I would pass this along. Travel Warning!!! U.S. Forestry Service Travel Warning The last two years have seen unprecedented growth in bear populations in Alaska and the Rocky Mountain area. As spring approaches, tourists are warned to wear small bells on their clothing when hiking in bear country. The bells warn away most bears. Tourists are also cautioned to watch the ground on the trail, paying particular attention to bear droppings to be alert for the presence of Grizzly bears. One can tell Grizzly droppings because they have small bells in them.

Hello everyone I have the LDS Family History Suite CD, and contained on it is the Pioneer Heritage Library. This disk has vast amount of pictures and information about Pioneer's and there families. I am willing to do searches (lookups) for your Pioneer families that came to Utah between 1847 and 1870. But please provide all you know about these families, Family group sheet type information (Husband, Spouse, and all of there children with full names, birth dates and places death dates and places and who there parents where with there family group sheet information) or any other information that could help with the search this will allow me to do a better search for you! I will do these searches as I get time and for as long as I can find the time to do it. Ron Perkes Bountiful, Utah rdp@utah-inter.net
Hi Linda I found the following information in the Pioneer Heritage Library section of the LDS Family History Suite CD. It looks like the Alonzo D. Rhodes that you are looking for. There may also be more information about him or other family members. If you have a pedigree or family group sheets or general information for any family member send it to me and I will do more searches in this CD for more information. Also in reference to the BERG family if they came to Utah in 1874 the most likely came by train. In addition I may be able to send a printout of the picture or even send the picture file to you via email. I would need to do some research to find out how to send it via email. Hi All! I am new to HANDCART and am looking for info on some of my ancestors. Alonzo Donnell Rhodes was born in Ohio, 2 Sep 1822; married in Nauvoo in 1843; and died in Lehi, Utah in 1893. I don't know when he crossed the plains or with whom. If anyone has any info on him, I would appreciate hearing. Emelius Thorvald Berg was born in Denmark in 1847; married in SLC in 1874; and died there in 1911. Here again, I don't know when he came to the US or to Utah or with whom. His mother was Karen(Caroline) Larsen Ritz, who was born in Denmark also and died in Arizona in 1885. Emma Olivia Salin was born in Sweden in 1857 and married Emelius Berg in SLC in 1874, but I don't know when she came to the US or Utah either. Thanks in advance for any information or directions given. Linda Webb

Hi Scott Skeen This is very familiar. During my WILLIAMS research I found a Williams cousin that married a Ada Myrtle SKEEN. In addition I know that there a lot of SKEEN's buried in the Plains City, Utah Cemetery. I also have contact information for a living descendant of the Daniel WILLIAMS Ada SKEEN marriage. In regards to the LOWE surname I have a LOWE link and I just saw email of a person that has a LOWE line from Lehi, Utah. If you think further information about a possible link would help please email me back for more details. Looking for information Mark Waters and his wife Emerett Winget--mother and father of Von Elmo Waters my father.
THE ELUSIVE ANCESTOR I went searching for an ancestor, I cannot find him still. He moved around from place to place and did not leave a will. He married where a courthouse burned, he mended all his fences. He avoided any man who came to take the U.S. Census. He always kept his luggage packed, this man who had no fame, And every 20 years or so this rascal changed his name. His parents came from Europe, they should be upon a list of passengers to USA, but somehow they got missed. And no one else in this world is seaching for this man; So I play genesolitaire to find him if I can. I'm told he's buried in a plot, with tombstone he was blessed; But the Weather took the engraving and some vandals took the rest. He died before the county clerks decided to keep records. No Family Bible has emerged in spite of all my efforts. To top it off this ancestor, who caused me many groans, Just to give me one more pain, betrothed a girl named Jones. I have temporarily put up a page on Pahreah, Kane County, Utah to answer a question someone sent to my county page. If any of your pioneer ancestors were at this ghost town, go and see what is up there (no names, just town info.) Most of it is from the LDS Suite CD, plus a map and a postcard picture. This is copywrited material, that is up there for two weeks just for personal research information. I have a great grandmother from there myself. You'll find it at: http://members.aol.com/cballd/pahreah.htm If anyone has any information (history, settlers' names, etc.) of the town of Aneth (formerly Riverside,) San Juan County, Utah I need help. Nothing I have has more than its name. Cindy Alldredge
