    3. To All: As a semi-explanation for not being able to get the FHS now: There was a change of ownership involved and the genealogy part of Infobase is now owned by Ancestry and the rest is split up to other companies. Most of the same pioneer information is available from Ancestry on a CD-ROM entitled the "PIONEER HERITAGE CD-ROM". It includes the "Pioneers & Prominent Men of Utah". You can find out more by going to the Ancestry.com web page. Also, the "bonus disk" enclosed with the Infobase Collectors Library 97 program contained some of the early church membership information, etc. That is now out of print also but if you know someone who has the Collectors but doesn't want their "bonus disk" you might talk them out of it. I called the BYU Bookstore and they do not have the Family History Suite although the clerk said that they have had phone requests for it as well as about 10 people walking in asking for it. Inforbase should know about this. At any rate, the clerk said she had a copy that she had never used and she agreed to sell it to me. What luck! James Ward Brown was the brother of my Great Great Grandmother Ann Brown, I have information on James Ward and Caroline's Children and some of their grand children and a few great grand children and it stops there, you see I have a letter written my Caroline and if there are any of her descendents out there they may appreciate a copy of the letter (it was written to my Great grand aunt Annie Dooley. If anyone knows of any, tell them to drop me a line. Thanks Beryl Worrall Edmonton Alberta Canada

    3. Just a thought here.....fair use on copywrites means you are able to 'copy' 10% of a work, a 'name' from a work, etc., and not violate any copywrite laws. I think that what we have done on lookups for the group is well within these parameters. With the vast amount of data on the cd, most of you are only receiving 3 or 4 pages of data. Much, much less than 10%. If all of you that care about this would just contact Ancestry.com on their e-mail and express your concerns about this no longer being available for purchase, it might help. I will do that too. Even those of us who have this product could express our help this way. I will call around and see if I can locate any more copies. Last I heard was that Weber State University still had some copies. I will find some numbers for those of you who are looking. Terri At 09:12 AM 5/11/98 -0700, Earnie &Melanie Glazener wrote: >Appleton's just called me. 3. Hi Marie: Welcome to our Handcart list :) This list is set up for anyone looking for data on their LDS Pioneer Ancestors. Sometimes those pioneers didn't end up in Utah. Some kept going to California, stopped at the Wyoming Territory, or even stayed in the Winter Quarters area. Some died very early in the Church and didn't have the opportunity of reaching Utah. Some were dissenters, but still Ancestors. Some were dropped from the membership roles. That doesn't matter. Just so long as there is that 'link'. If you have any religious questions about the LDS Church, don't hesitate to ask them. However, we encourage the answers to the religious questions to be done privately. We had quite a flame war last summer with someone who disagree with polygamy ;) It was just a given fact that this was part of the early Church history. Utah history is so much fun and we have so many wonderful researchers here on the list willing to help.
