Hi Mike,     I have been researching my Hancock family for 25 years or more.  There was a marriage between a Stephen Hancock and a Silah O'Neal in Halifax County on 11 Apr 1819.  I don't think that is my Stephen Hancock.  There is a record of a Fanny Hancock married in Halifax County to Jerry Talbert on 9 Sept 1806 and her father is listed as Stephen Hancock.  There is a Fanny Hancock that married a Silar(Silas)? Ratliffe in 1790.  This Fanny Hancock would not be a child of Stephen but she could be a sister of Stephen & Absalom.  I am very interested in her because I think the witness at Absalom and Martha's wedding was  a Silas Ratliff. It is possible that Fanny Hancock Talbert is Stephen's daughter and named for her Aunt.The children of Absalom were: (Peter) Fleming Hancock, Celia, Olive Jane and Exoney. Keep in touch and maybe between us we will figure those Halifax Hancocks out. I believe Patrick County was formed in 1791 or 1792.  1791 tax records have Absalom listed with Benjamin, John and William.  1792 Absalom, William and Benjamin.  1793 was really hard to read. 1794 was Absalom, John, Major, William and Benjamin.Other than the connection with Stephen, I have not found proof of Absalom's father or what happened to the children in his household in 1785.  I have the information about the children of Absalom and Martha Grahamas Absalom was my 3 times great grandfather.  I would love to be able to connect with descendants of any brothers or even a child that lived to come to Patrick County with Absalom. Thanks for the info. I think Catherine was probably born around 1800. If you ever come across tax records etc that show any Hancocks on the same page with Owen(s) , I appreciate a head's up.
