Hi Odessa, Aunt Polly's parent were Ida Nash and Bluford Jordan Hancock(Limestone Co., Texas). "Blue Jay" (as he was called) desc. from Achasia Clementine Warren and Charles Jackson Hancock(Sycamore Creek, Wilson Co., Tennessee) whose ancestors were Frances Frankye Adams and Lewis Hancock(Fluvanna, Henry Co., Virginia); Anna Nancy Corn and Benjamin Hancock(Cunningham Creek, Albemarle Co., Virginia); Elizabeth Maddox and John D. Hancock (New Kent Co., Virginia); and (of course!) the elusive Jane and Benjamin Hancock from New Kent, Goochland Co., Virginia. One of the things I am proudest of is that I was able to put together a Hancock genealogy chronicle 18 mos. ago and was able to give Aunt Polly a history of her Hancock family. I never would have been able to do this in such a short period of time were it not for the generosity of the many members of this list who shared so much of their research with me. I will never forget the look on her face when I gave her a copy of the research. She was so proud to be able to tell her grandchildren about her family. I only wish I could have done the same for her Nash side but time ran out. Jean, One of our (my wife and me) greatest regrets is that we did not listen to the older generations as well as we might, and did not begin to record the little we knew until the entire prior generation had passed. How very blessed you are to have been able to share so much with one who had lived almost the entire century, and could share so much with you (and you with her). All of us who are doing any work in this field need to encourage the next generation to pick up where we are, and to not let our family histories die from neglect.
