I don't know if you looked at the website for the FRENCH results, but there are six matches (you read them across not vertically) and there are 25 markers in every person's results. It they match 25 of 25, 24 or 25 or 23 or 25 they are considered to be of the same male line. Note, the Y-DNA goes from father to son to son forever, therefore the surname is always the same. Hector's surname is Hancock and Joseph's is French so they are not in a direct male line unless one was adopted and does not have the correct surname. When Hector's markers come in, I will compare them to Joseph's in any case to be sure. I agree that Joseph may have been Hector's nephew or of some other relationship. Julia
