Audrey, William is my line, however, there are many errors in all that you sent. First, he was married to an Elizabeth and we thought, for a long time that this William was the son of William Hancock and Elizabeth Cockcroft. William died 17 May 1687 in Lower Norfolf, VA. Their son, William moved to Surry Co., VA and married Elizabeth Spencer, however, he remained there. The William about which you are inquiring is the one who was transported to Bath County (now Craven Co.) NC in about 1694 with his wife, Elizabeth and son, William. William, Sr. was born about 1665 and died in 1730 in Craven Co., NC. William (Capt. William) married and had John, William, Elizabeth and Mary. Both John and William died young and John may be the one you mention who died in 1731. William died before 1747. Capt. William married Elizabeth Durham in 1715 and had Durham, James and Sarah. Elizabeth must have died because when he wrote his will, his wife was Dorothy. He and Dorothy had a son William and an unborn child mentioned in the will. So far, we haven't found the origins of William and Elizabeth since we have learned he doesn't match with DNA to the VA Hancocks. Julia
