    1. Re: [HANCOCK-L] Family lines with same Y-DNA--Chart 26 & 3 & Update
    2. Audrey- I have come to the conclusion that wedding our lines will be like winning the lottery. If we assume Jean and I have correct data and that yours is correct, all we can do is fit the two pieces and hope the bond holds. I have data back to William, etc and have seen your data for years and never thought we were the same line. (Arvil looked pretty hard also.) The big block for me is that I was convinced we would never find an easy answer so maybe digging harder? I spent my working career in technical research. One way to find the correct answer is to pick the end result you want and then prove you are right. (Also start in the middle and you can go either way.) I think the Johns and Benjamins must be the solution. We need the Rosetta Stone. 1. [HANCOCK-L] Connecting these HANCOCK lines--Chart 26, 3, etc.
    2. Audrey Shields Hancock
    3. Hi, Bob, I need more testees from the BENJAMIN HANCOCK (WF, MARY BEADLES) line as testees, first to determine if there is common DNA to at least connect my John to that family, then I need to prove that Benjamin and Mary are truly his parents which based upon much circumstantial evidence seems to point to that conclusion. Yes, merging these lines may never happen, but we'll give it the ole school boy try! Well, I was always interested in the fact that you had an ADAMS, BROCK, & DAVIS in your listings of surnames. I now think that (Capt.) John may have had the middle name of Adams and his son's middle name, as Alexander. Based upon how children were named in those days, it would indicate an ancestor bore the surname of ADAMS, and sometimes marriages occurred with same families to other connecting families. Then I have a William Hancock (believed s/o Benjamin & Mary) who is believed to have married Jemima BROCKMAN (in marriage records as Jemima BROCK), dau/o BROCKMAN & GRAVES. Then I have John DAVIS mar 1690 Stafford Co., VA to Susanna MATHENY and had dau, Susanna Davis who married a Bartlett, who had a BARTLETT dau who married a GRAVES and they had Nancy GRAVES who married (Capt.) John HANCOCK. Just throwing out names in case anyone sees something that will "ring a bell" in connecting these HANCOCK families.
